It seems to be forgotten that Vittorio Veneto also was the name of one of the six battleships from the fleet of the Duce, armed with nine 15-inch cannons, measuring 35000 registertons.( from " The battle for Tobrouq" by Anthony Heckstall-Smith,p.10). Highly probable that the name would be done in memory of the above-mentionned armistice signed in the city of the same name.

I'm afraid there's just not quite enough information here for me to be able to add it to the article. What is meant by "the fleet of the Duce" - I'm afraid I don't know enough about battleships, or navies in general, to know how to word this information more encyclopedically. If you can fill in the gaps in my understanding, please feel free to do so - if you are the writer of the above comment, note that you edited the text of the article to add it, so you can do exactly the same to correct any errors or omissions you find around here. - IMSoP 14:27, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)
