I apologise for the error. Port of Spain, 1983-84 was the match that Lloyd missed. He did miss Leeds '80, but it was outside the 27 tests.

Sir Clive?[edit]

The MLC tournament is named the "Sir Clive Lloyd Cup", but I can't find any reference to Clive actually having been knighted at any point... has he been? -dmmaus 00:49, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Poor Captaincy?[edit]

I feel the reference to Lloyd's "poor captaincy" during the NZ tour should be looked at. Firstly to look at this tour in isolation from a twenty year international career does scant justice to Clive Lloyd, secondly the statement that many NZ cricket fans still dislike Lloyd is opinion not fact, as is the statement that he displayed "poor captaincy" in the first place. There is no objective judgement of "poor captaincy" so this cannot be neutral, it's simply the authors view. Most importantly it completely ignores the incompetence of the NZ umpires which caused huge resentment amongst the West Indian team. This section should either reflect the cause and effect relationship of the dreadful umpiring and the West Indies surly behaviour or it should be deleted. Perhaps it could have been stated more objectively, but examples need to be given of the umpires alleged poor umpiring and added to the article. I've seen bad umpiring over the years but since 1980 I have seldom seen players kick over stumps, barge an umpire and refuse to come out of their dressing room the way the West Indian players did that tour. I am more inclined to think that Lloyd got away with his dreadful leadership on that tour because it happenned in out of the way New Zealand rather than England or Australia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.28.145.181 (talk) 07:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
