Article listed on WP:VFD July 11 to July 127 2004, consensus was to keep. Discussion:

As the article says, there are over 12,000 software packages currently available for the Macintosh. Are we really going to try to keep this up to date? What about software that goes out of production? RickK 21:01, Jul 11, 2004 (UTC)

• Comment. It's actually a sort of historical overview and it does include software that has gone out of production (e.g. MindWrite, MPW, MacApp, OpenDoc), identified as such. Obviously the contributor did not intended it to be a list of current Macintosh software. Dpbsmith 22:37, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)
• Keep I think - it isn't claiming to be exhaustive or up to date but it does link together some of the software articles in Wikipedia (which is not paper). Cutler 21:50, Jul 11, 2004 (UTC)
• Delete: It's more that selecting titles to list amounts to a POV of selection. If the list is representative enough to avoid that, it's going to be miles long. Geogre 22:29, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)

• Delete. I'm an official Mac Fanatic, but this is ridiculous. Classic software (eg, AppleWorks) or software originally created for the Mac platform (eg, Photoshop) certainly deserve their own article, but there's no conceivable purpose to listing every title that ever appeared for the Mac. • Comment: Perhaps this is meant to be a list of software that ran on the Apple Macintosh, as opposed to the iMac, G3, G4, etc. (i.e. like the IBM PC vs. the "personal computer")? If so, perhaps renaming and perhaps indicating something like "List of popular software for the Apple Macintosh?" Geogre 01:28, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

• Keep. Here's what will happen if it goes - people will start adding ad-hoc titles to the Apple Macintosh or Mac OS X or Mac OS pages, which clutters those articles and leads to many dups. In fact, this is what the situation was before I created this list and linked from all those other places. This list cannot possibly be exhaustive and will always be a dumping ground for individuals' personal faves, but better that than go back to the former chaos! • Keep. There are an estimated 10²¹ stars in the universe (or maybe 100 times more), so we better delete List of stars since it will never be comprehensive, right? That said, the list must be restricted to notable applications (and other software). David Remahl 14:10, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Disagree with name change - "notable" is inherently POV. The existing name is fine, it doesn't claim to be a complete list. Graham 10:49, 14 Jul 2004 (UTC)
