Talk moved from main[edit]

It has always been my opinion that stub is better then nothing, and articles should be made on public space not on private pages. I would recommend moving this article to public wiki in its present form. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus 23:10, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Do you mean this article or the article on constitutions? [[User:Halibutt|Halibutt]] 08:56, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)
    • The latter. I see this article as a place we link articles in public space we want to improve - like peer review or contributions of the week. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus 11:23, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
No, this article is a repository of links in non-public space, that is draft articles, sketches or merely to-do lists. Perhaps we could also prepare a "progress" section on the main project page? [[User:Halibutt|Halibutt]] 18:02, Nov 28, 2004 (UTC)
I can see some merit in having a place to post some drafts and such. A friend of mine agreed to let me (us, Wiki) use material from hists posts about PLC from forum (bar.baen.com). I will post them under Wikipedia:WikiProject_History_of_Poland/Articles/Drafts and work on them, since atm its needs serious wikifying before it can go to public space. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus 12:56, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Help needed[edit]

Good news. With recent additions, I belive both Polish-Soviet War and Battle of Warsaw (1920) articles have enough materials to be Featured. But we need to work on details now:

  • language corrections, copyediting and ilinking
  • decide if we stand with 'Polish-Soviet' war title or go with Polish-Bolshevic or sth else, and if we can use adjective/noun Soviet at all in this context (this is bound to be reaised during FAC process)
  • I think we have sufficient materials to make stubs about most of red battles from PSWar battlebox now, it would look better if they were not red, I think

Russo-Polish War[edit]

As to the name - in my oppinion it must be changed. All right, I know the "Soviet" war is more popular, but this name is but a common mistake. The matter is quite simple: no Soviet Union - no Soviet war as the wars are usually named after states that fought them.

If so, we are left with three choices: Polish-Bolshevik War (which IMO would be the best since that is how this war is usually called in Poland), Russo-Polish War of 1919-1920 (which also seems fine, although slightly too long and perhaps old-stylish) and Polish-Russian War of 1919-1920 (less old-stylish, but still too long IMO). There is also an alternative of adoption of some terms coined by Soviet historians, like War with foreign intervention, War with White Poland and so on, but... nyah, let's be serious ;)

As to the battle articles - I started some of them some time ago (see the initial version of the Battle of Warsaw (1920), but also the other battles in the infobox (and the infobox itself, for that matter :) ). Unfortunately, I will not have time to write all the articles, at least not until the winter vacations (February, I think). I could prepare some stubs though, that wouldn't take too much time, would it ;).

So, we have gathered a fairly decent team here, not bad at all! As to the grammar and corrections - there's only one word to say and one place to go: Logologist. The articles could also do with some more pics. Emax, are you there? :) Halibutt 01:09, Jan 6, 2005 (UTC)
