Untitled[edit]

This article has been vandalized several times recently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.251.242.200 (talk) 04:10, 3 December 2007 (UTC) Maybe there's a contradiction btw this article & Mitosis. Latter says under item "Prophase" that it is the centrosomes that recruit the spindles, whereas this article says it is the centrioles. I assume that the text in the article on mitosis is more accurate, but maybe I'm wrong - somebody here with detailed knowledge in biology?[reply]

Actually the correct term is:[edit]

Centromere: The central portion of a pair of sister chromatids Centrioles: Organelles which emit spindle fibers, also known as microtubules Centrosomes: A much less common synonym for Centriole well this is wrong

Both the terms Centromere and Centriole are not, loosely speaking, correct; quote from the latter article: "Two centrioles are arranged perpendicularly and surrounded by further proteins (the pericentriolar material) to form tlalalalal

A total mess up to this page![edit]

Someone from outside had vandalized the page. I tried my best to put back what was supposed to be there. Someone should make it better. It's one of the most wanton acts of vandalism I've ever seen!King of Skies (talk) 06:20, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Improvement Project[edit]

Hello! I will be working on this page throughout the month of November as part of my Advanced Genetics course at the University of Western Ontario. I plan to improve various elements of the article both structurally and informatively. This article is missing a large amount of information, including but not limited to: substages of prophase, differences in plant and animal cells, differences in meiosis and mitosis, issues that arise with abnormalities during prophase, signalling pathways that induce prophase, cell check points in relation to prophase, and current research focusing on prophase. Furthermore, I plan to clean up the lead of the article, as many statments are lacking a reliable source. Structurally, the article is atrocious due to lack of subheadings and an attempt to put all information into the leading section of the article. I plan to address as many of these issues as possible in my article improvement. As this is my first time editing a Wikipedia article please bear with me as work to improve this article and be kind and understanding as I try to revise any issues you may find with my edits. Prophase ( a phase of mitosis )[edit]
