Morning Edition, November 14, 2005 · The 1965 Voting Rights Act is being used, unconventionally, to defend white voters. The Justice Department is pursuing the case in Noxubee County, Mississippi, on behalf of a group of white residents. The suit alleges that black election officials have systematically discriminated against white voters and candidates.[1]
