Centre-right position[edit]

@Hidolo and @Odideum please be civil and resolve the issue here.

There is no doubt about majority of ALDE parties being centre-right or centre to centre-right or having major right-of-centre factions. It's just a question whether there are sources that precisely describe the europarty ALDE Party as one with those positions. Personally, I'm sure there certainly are some (at least those that mention its centre-right factions so maybe adding "Factions:" to the Infobox is the solution), but if these proposed by Hidolo are accurate is to be seen and explained here. I have only checked the last source, the 1 from EP website and that one is certainly not relevant as it only seems to describe Romanian party ALDE (Romania) as centre-right, not the europarty as a whole. Good initiative. I would however not support adding a "factions" entry in the infobox. European political parties all have different currents because of their heavy reliance on national parties which all have slightly different positions. If we were to create factions here, then the same would apply to all parties and lead to many factions for each (except maybe the Greens who tend to be more homogeneous). I think it more productive to find sources supporting a relevant spectrum (and, indeed, center to center-right seems fair if supported by sources). I don't have a problem with the 'centre to centre-right' position. However, sources provided by @Hidolo are inadequate (yes, I've checked them all). I don't have a proposal for the political position, but my opinion is that it should stay centre until we have better sources to change the position. Odideum (talk) 12:52, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, I’d leave a position out of the Infobox entirely, and if suitable (reliable) references are found, just mention the stated position(s) solely in the article body. The group has some centre-right parties of course, but it’s mostly heterogeneous, if anything.— Autospark (talk) 15:01, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think leaving the entire position our of the Infobox is reasonable. Only the center-right part is in need of sources. "Center" is not disputed and should definitely stay. Julius Schwarz (talk) 15:07, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It should stay, yes. But is it sourced? -- My concern here would be if we are putting an undue burden of evidence on one version of the statement. If some number of member parties are centre-right, then describing the ALDE as a whole to be on a spectrum of some kind seems totally reasonable to me.
Unless there already are sources in the article that explicitly call the whole of the ALDE to have a definitive "centre" position? JackTheSecond (talk) 15:33, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
