What is the point of this article? I haven't had time to read it word for word, but it seems to be almost a direct copy of the history section of the main DT article. Having an article like this does neither article justice. Either we should greatly expand this article to include thing not listed in the original article, or summarize the history section of the DT article so that readers there can get the summary at this article. I personally prefer the latter option, as I think this article goes into a lot of depth, and that it could also be consisely summarized in the DT article. This page is the original, unabridged history. The history section in the main Dream Theater page is a LOT shorter than this one. It was suggested to me that it would be a good idea to move the complete history to a new article (this one) and leave only the most important aspects of it within the original, so that's what I've done. This could probably use a better introduction, but it's no different to, for example, History of the Beatles. -- plattopusis this thing on? 03:13, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)
I think that this article is unimportant. It would be better that the history of dream theater to remain only in their main article. --Aeternus 18:42, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. This article should be merged into the main article, unless someone comes up with a way to dramatically shorten the History section there. --Russoc4 18:11, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
While editing the main article there is a notice at the top of the preview page telling us the page size is already to high... How about removing the duplicated information from the main article and link the section to this article instead? --Zoury 19:07, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't agree with this, because the quality of Dream Theater article will be lost, if the history of the band is removed. I still insist to delete this article and put all the history on the Dream Theater's main page. Thank you Aeternus 07:36, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Merge the two. This article is compltely superfluous, and there are many other metal articles with equally long history sections. XJDenton 16:45, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and merged the article, replacing the more concise history section in the main article with this one. A redirect is probably necessary from this article now.Splent 00:11, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
