Template:ISBN[edit]

Salve, Aranel!
This template has been listed at for deletion here. As you commented on the template's talk page I thought you might comment on the vote page, though it appears hopelessly in favor of deletion at this point. PedanticallySpeaking 17:39, May 11, 2005 (UTC)

just hello[edit]

I am user of catalan wikipedia and I decided to have a look to all related articles in english wikipedia (sorry if my english is not very good). I saw some of your changes and I read your user page. I just want to say you hello and also that I found your user's name explanation really funny

Hi - I see you haven't made any edits since March 2005 and have (with great sadness) added you to Wikipedia:Missing_Wikipedians. If you come back, please remove yourself from this list. -- Rick Block (talk) 13:57, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)

Category Substance-related disorders[edit]

Hello,

I thought you might be interested, as you created the category, in activity on WP:CFD around Category:Substance-related disorders. There's a proposal to rename to Category:Drug-related disorders and I'm wondering if you're still sufficiently interested in the category to have an opinion and make a vote at Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion/Log/2005_June_18.
Regards, Courtland 23:51, 2005 Jun 25 (UTC)

you're back[edit]

I don't really know you that well, so I'm not sure why, but I'm so happy! I've drifted away from Beland's orphaned categories list and CFD and thought you must have done the same, and then noticed you had stopped editing completely. In any event: two things. 1) I also moved you on WP:LA to the inactive section, so you might want to move yourself back to active. 2) Although it's certainly nobody's business but your own why you were gone, can I ask if you leave again to leave a hint on your talk or user page so folks aren't left wondering if you were abducted by aliens or something? Thanks, and welcome back! -- Rick Block (talk) July 9, 2005 16:10 (UTC)

  • Thank you! I added a secion to my user page, mostly for my own entertainment, but it should also be somewhat informative. Er...somewhat. ;) -Aranel ("Sarah") 17:32, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The bible[edit]

Firstly let me say that I am sorry to have to bother you.

Secondly, I wish to let you know that a recent VFD that you took part in has closed. The result was that 32 people voted to keep all individual bible verses as seperate articles, and 34 voted that they shouldn't (2 abstensions, and 3 votes for both). This is considered by standard policy not to be a consensus decision (although the closing admin stated that it was a consensus to keep them).

Thirdly, the subject has now been put to a survey, so that it may remain open until there is a clear consensus for what appears to be a difficult issue to resolve. You may wish to take part in this survey, and record a similar vote to the one you made at the VFD there. The survey is available at Wikipedia:Bible verses.

consensus[edit]

The Authentic Matthew VFD has closed. The results were

  • Delete - 21 (58%)
  • Keep - 11 (31%)
  • Merge - 4 (11%)

This was declared to have been no consensus, and therefore a new VFD has been opened at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Authentic Matthew (consensus).

Would you be prepared to re-add your vote there? ~~~~ ( ! | ? | * ) 09:42, 30 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for butting in![edit]

On the discussion on deletion! I do see a lot of people mentioning the issue of notability, but, since I couldn't find any reference to it in the policy, assumed that I was not under any obligation to use that criteria. In voting, I tried to evaluate the entries by the criteria in the deletion policy - it seemed like that was the best thing to do lest it simply degenerate into 'I like this, but I don't like that'. What do you think? Trollderella 15:42, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note Sarah, I'll get back to it and do a little more than that 2 line stub at some point :) - Jord 16:42, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rosie Cotton's page[edit]

Hi, I really like what you usually do to The Lord of the Rings pages, but why does Rosie Cotton have to be under the List of female hobbits? I don't see why it "does it better"? Elanor Gamgee is on the list of Female Hobbits but she also has a page too? From what I remember Rosie has just as big or bigger part in the books than Elanor.(?) I don't know,,I was just wondering????? HopefullGomer 16:19, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Knitting external link fun![edit]

Well, now I am taking heat from the knitting guilds people for deleting external links. And here I thought I was actually being reasonable about it. I don't want a reputation as a mean old link-removing grinch either! ;) But someone had to do it!

I actually have some evidence that someone who had posted there is link-spamming on a bunch of other pages, not just knitting-related... but I don't want to be the big meanie there either. Sigh. ManekiNeko 21:03, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Did you anonymously e-mail me? I edited the Aule page recently[edit]

Hello Aranel. I got a message from you recently, saying something about being glad that there are people who are interested in Tolkien beyond the movies and that you hoped I would join Wikipedia and become a member.

Assuming it was a message you wrote to me personally, I decided to join Wikipedia and see if I can help make it better in one way or another.

I have a minor in Philosophy, and work at a univerisity in engineering, so it was really satisfying to know that someone who manages content on Wikipedia cared enough to invite me to join.

I have also edited the "Gift of Men" page, and I believe it now is a very expansive, perhaps even authoritative interpretation of Tolkien's intent with this literary device.

Please let me know what you think if you have a little time.

Regards,

Copyright violation backlog[edit]

Hi, thanks for the response on the copyright problems talk page. I did a couple entries in the August 3rd section, Mark Tremonti and Visual Paradox. I thought I'd stop there and see if you'd take a look and let me know if the changes I made were appropriate. Witch-King of Angmar[edit]

Not to throw more work onto your to-do pile, but I put a question up at the talk page for the Witch-king of Angmar page, and I haven't gotten a response as of yet. Perhaps you might be able to answer my question? I was skimming articles for general copy-edit and found that the infobox for the article held conflicting information. Image copyright problem with Image:Narya 100.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Narya 100.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 01:29, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Borough categories[edit]

I'm contacting you because I see you have created some Alaskan 'borough' catgeories and given them their proper names. There is currently a heated debate with regards to English geography relating to the borough category names. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Favicon iedisplay.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Favicon iedisplay.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:19, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peas in a Pod[edit]

Hello Miss Sarah,

My Name is also Sarah. And I am a fanatic of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and of course the Hobbit. And I have gone by Aranel every since a dramatic occurence in life. I am only 16, and currently obsessed with R.A. Salvatore's "The Legend of Drizzt". But I find you fascinating.

Perhaps we could talk?

My myspace is myspace.com/skully0405

I also have a chapter to a self-written story (involving the name Aranel, of course) that may be interesting. If you're bored and have a vivid imagination, that is.

And I found Aranel searching through Tolkien's elven translation. Princess, in Elvish, is also Aranel. Another name I adopted was Sereg Heryn. (Literally- Blood Queen. In my mind- The Bloody Queen.)

Sincerely,

Category:German heroic legend has been superseded[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:German heroic legend, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:German heroic legend has been superseded by a similar category (typos in name, expanding abbreviations, fixing capitalisation, renaming to comply with the "by country" format and conversions from singular to plural or vice versa). (CSD C2).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:German heroic legend, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Deleted article: Scott Litman[edit]

Hi Sarah, you removed an article for Scott Litman based on WP:CP. I would like to add in new content for his page, but prefer to run it past you for feedback. The copy I would like to add is as follows:

Scott Litman is a Minnesota entrepreneur, co-founder of The Minnesota Cup and previous CEO and co-founder of Imaginet.

In 1998, Scott was named a 40 under 40 by CityBusiness for the success of Imaginet.[1] On the 135th Anniversary of the founding of the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts, Scott was published in the book "135 Voices" representing the class of 1990. More recently, he was named one of 200 Minnesotans to know by Twin Cities Business.[2]

I'd appreciate your thoughts/feedback as to whether or not this is appropriate for inclusion. Thank you!

The article List of anti-rock authors has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced article with dubious inclusion criteria. Some of those listed here make no mention of being "anti-rock" in their article, and in most of the others, it is a minor point in their anti-everything positions.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 07:58, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:29, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. RL0919 (talk) 20:07, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of change[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz talk 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:251 births requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
