If we use a numbering system that includes a zero, then we have to say that the year 2000 is part of the 21st century!

They did not "decide not to use a zero". This is misleading. They decided (naturally) to use natural numbers. the year 100 BC is the 100th (positive number) before Christ. It is not the year "-100th after Christ". it is the "-99th year after Christ", if you like, but that's of course ridiculous, because nobody would say such a thing. (like, "this happend in the -19th year before I was born", instead of "this happened when I was 20") dab () 16:08, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)
