Aaaaarrrgh. It is frustrating to see a poorly written blurb about a featured article.

Consider the following:

1. "... produced by the BBC and concerning the adventures..." Poor syntax. The article itself reads "... that concerns..." --Better as it has no syntatical problems. One might also simply use "about."

2. Then there's this sentence: "The programme was and remains a significant part of British popular culture, widely recognised for its creative storytelling, use of innovative music which was produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and budget special effects.

  • ""The programme was and remains..." Wordy. Surely "is" would do.
  • This is a run-on sentence with weak structure that makes it hard to understand. Example: "... innovative music which was produced... and budget special effects." What does this mean?

O.k, that's off my chest. Don't get me wrong, I love the home page and the featured article. Most of the time it's very well-written. But sometimes... So what do we do? The only avenue I could find was this. Sunray 07:56, 2004 Dec 16 (UTC)
