Talk:List of landmarks in Chicago

This list was taken from Chicago school (architecture) with only a couple additions. However not all the buildings are still standing. They were listed on that page as examples of a particular architectural style. Can they be considered landmarks if they no longer exist? (Leiter I building I know is gone.) They certainly are not designated landmarks. Rmhermen 23:46, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)

I was in Chicago around Christmas and remember seeing a grave all by itself in the city. I remember my relative telling me that it belonged to a family that refused to have the body exumed when the cemetery was moved. I forget exactly where it was. I was just curious as to who it is and whether it was a notable citizen or a famous citizen of Chicago. Morganismysheltie 21:40, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One of Chicago's first innkeepers. See Lincoln Park (Chicago), history section. Rmhermen 00:38, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Landmark Designation[edit]

This list should clearly define what constitutes a landmark. The definition should probably be items either listed on the National Historic Register or designated by the City's Commission on Chicago Landmarks. All other items should be removed or moved to a see also section. TonyTheTiger 17:54, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strongly Suggest you follow the City's Commission on Chicago Landmarks as well as well known landmarks by local communities like Promontory Point (Hyde Park) -- Ishmael Rufus 15:31, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merger Discussion[edit]

Perhaps instead of merging this page with Chicago Landmark we could move this page to Chicago Attractions or some such. Speciate 05:43, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I intend to move Chicago Landmark page to List of Chicago landmarks and apply for a WP:FL. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 15:52, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In truth this page should be deleted and redirected upon closer inspection. It constitutes WP:OR in the sense that these are landmarks according to the editor. This weeks CHICOTW is producing THE list of Chicago Landmarks. Many of the famous Chicago institutions are not actually designated as Chicago Landmarks. So, what happened ? Does this article contain anything not already in Chicago Landmark ? -- Beardo 04:17, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
