Is this really suitable for wikipedia?[edit]

In my eyes, it's more of a wiktionary article. 217.60.43.5 06:28, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It is suitable, but could be developed into discussion of philosophical cruelty, re: Nietzsche, Artaud, etc.

Needs a proper definition. I believe that most people use the word cruel to imply the infliction of purposeful suffering. Being indiffrent to what someone else believes to be cruel to too subjective. Even though it is a subjective idea.86.41.103.12 (talk) 18:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

cruel[edit]

a cruel is also a mythival creature found in c.s.lewis's chronicles of nirnia. it is for the most part transparent, use a subsonic scream to attack it's enemies, and is a follower of the white witch.

Leuricy[edit]

Leuricy- antonym of cruelty definition= The utter absence of ill or hurtful intentions characterized by impartial love and/or hospitality. Usage: She became a saint because of the leuricy she showed towards others. Also can be an adjective (leuric). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cutlerowns19 (talkcontribs) 19:44, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"In consumer products" section[edit]

This reads like an add for Beauty without Cruelty. Its clearly cut and paste from a website, its not suitable at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ultan42 (talkcontribs) 23:03, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Eighth deadly sin?"[edit]

It might be tempting to conflate cruelty with anger, but anger usually emerges in abrupt, destructive actions that reflect transitory rage or a desire for personal revenge. Cruelty is often chilly in its execution and often reflects either indifference to suffering or active seeking of others' pain. Anger might be sated quickly and regretted, but cruelty is typically more permanent. An unwholesome political order like Nazi Germany can cultivate it as a unifying force of the culture.

Anger often gives a warning; cruelty typically operates under cover of a difference in power between the one who inflicts pain or ruin and the one who endures it.Pbrower2a (talk) 14:14, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
