I am the author[edit]

of this piece, and first posted it at bookcrossing.com, which I no longer visit and which for some reason no longer permits one to hide one's personal page -- perhaps in an effort to make the site seem more popular than it is. I contributed it yesterday when, browsing the entry for Akira Kurosawa, I followed the link to "Dersu Uzala" and found it empty. In retrospect I suspect the article errs more towards a review than an encyclopedia entry and may be unsuitable anyway.

You can contact me at conexil[at]aol.com for confirmation; or delete the entry: it's all the same to me.

Two different versions of Kurosawa's Dersu Uzala Film.[edit]

I have seen two versions, one longer than the other. The one I have seen in video lacks a very important part.

Scenes missing in video version of Dersu Uzala[edit]

In the complete version, Dersu tells to Capitan Arseniev, there are 3 persons that are very dangerous when angry. Wind, Water and Fire. The part about Fire is missing in the short version.

Other part that I remember, not includen in the short version is when Dersu finds Ging Sen something reserved to very Fair and Generous Persons.

I remember other scenes missing related to the capture of bandids by Chao Ban.

Does anybody has more information about the ommited scenes to include in the article?

This article says that right before parting the first time, Dersu asks the Captain for cartridges for his rifle. However, in the film version available on Amazon, what Dersu asks for is alcohol, which better accounts for his embarrased countenance. Carmen Valdés (talk) 11:46, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some believe[edit]

Guesswork removed.

Some believe the character of Yoda in director George Lucas's Return of the Jedi, part of the Star Wars series, had been based upon the character of Dersu.

Lucas is still alive. It is either based or not, and it doesn't matter what "some" believe. mikka (t) 18:34, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Kino7.jpg[edit]

Image:Kino7.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
