percentage of French-speaking Canadians[edit]

Just a small correction. You state that about one third of Canadians speak French as their mother tongue. This was true for most of the 20th century, however it isn't anymore.

According to the 2001 census, only 22.6% of Canadians speak French as their mother tongue (just over one-fifth of the population). More recent census information is not available yet, but it is expected that that figure is probably even lower now. Because of a plummeting birth rate in Quebec, the lure of English as "the international language" (unfortunately, I think), and a far higher proportion of recent immigrants to Canada who speak English as a first or second language as compared to the relatively small number who speak French, this number is dropping every year.
