Calculation type[edit]

If CNX Nifty index is in fact a market-cap weighted stock index, the text should Explicitly say so. --Tschurin (talk) 03:36, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nifty 50 usually refers to a group of the 50 most popular large-cap stocks on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in the 1960s and 1970s. Due to their marked stability, Nifty 50 stocks were viewed as "one-decision" picks because investors were told to buy and hold them forever.

The companies in the Nifty 50 were characterized by consistent earnings growth and high P/E ratios. They were also credited with propelling the bull market of the early 1970s. However, after 1996, Nifty 50 gained an additional meaning in the financial industry. 1st paragraph is a grammatical circus not comporting with other articles about stock indexes[edit]

The corona pandemic has called attention to this article, whose intro is a grammatical circus I cannot understand. Ellenor2000 (talk) 07:00, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of new category[edit]

If we look at Category:Companies by stock market index, most of the world's major indices are listed, except for the NIFTY. Can somebody add this? 92.71.60.62 (talk) 09:32, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
