Charles Martel was not the son of Charles II and Maris of Hungary. He was the son of Pepin II and his concubine, either Alpaide, Alpais, or Elphide (Chalpaida).

This listing is in error.

We all make mistakes. I some how come up with stuff like this. Currious it seems that the name may have started with the 700's of Charles, though not so since the representation is in course with the meanings Carl and Man meaning the same. Allthough i find it greatly interesting how Maritel and man somehow may have the respected invitation as well. And how Martel and maritel have much in common. …Remember Charles Martel, and Charles Martel of Anjou it's kind of like saying DeLancey De Lancey or just Lancey sometimes it goes like de Lancey and if it is together as of deLancey thats realy modern and if it is delancey with yes small L then thats a more seperated diversion though it varies sometimes vowels are missing. I guess it is all on the Art Economics History of the name. and respectively there are many chalres whom have relation with each other from long ago and their names being the same meaning have different spelling. But i'll tell you Charles is a great nameing degree and all because it meant a being, literally. My research continues. Charles the short, i've been doing research on the name Short. Maybe when i get a bit more clearer i'll submit something. I actually had it typed out earlier, though deleeted it by accitent. It had to do with Family and how seperation was in the formalities of peerage.
