Hampden Park Station has a short Platform so make sure you are in the Front coaches normally the front 6 or 8 I believe, so you can alight on to the Platform.

What i also wanted to say is announcements are often wrong for HP I've even asked the driver in the past and he wasn't 100% sure! Trains for the south coast add and remove carrages in haywards heath (esp specials) eastbourne (so what was the front 4 may become the rear 4 of 12 if you stop on the way out of eastbourne from london - in the end i realised it was easier to get a taxi from polegate station - we should also make some reference to the railway crossing - its really busy! sorry about the typos...

Further to that on Eastbourne it says it is the busiest railway crossing in europe - im really not sure thats true but it is really busy as i said

Amendment to description[edit]

I have amended the description, since the one-time direct route between Polegate and Stone Cross has long been lifted. The original description of the Eastbourne section was as a branch line; since Eastbourne is a terminus it is only natural that all trains continuing past there in either direction have perforce to pass through Hampden Park twice. The "main line" was rarely used, apart from special trains, and the great majority of all trains served Eastbourne. Peter Shearan (talk) 09:03, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
