Opus Numbers[edit]

There seems to be a great deal of confusion in identifying Boccherini's works by opus number. For example, one string quintet seems to be catalogued in different places as opus 37 no. 7 and opus 28 no. 4! One solution might be to use G catalogue numbers instead. Opus 11 or Opus 13?[edit]

Boccherini's famous Minuet in A, String Quintet No. 5 Mvmt III, is it Opus 11 or Opus 13? Why is it when I search Google I get both resulting in the same piece? There is an album on Amazon labelled Opus 13.^[1] Then there is an album on Classical Archives labelled Opus 11.^[2] In here it is labelled Opus 11. However, most controversial of all is the information for The Ladykillers 2004 film remake soundtrack on IMDB, where it is labelled Op. 13 and not 11!^[3] I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. After Yves Gerard catalogue (Catalogue de l'oeuvre) the correct opus is 11, #5. This disagreement is caused of coincidence with the minuet (in same tonality) from op. 13, #6. Payakoff (talk) 14:41, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs more material from good sources[edit]

While this is nothing new to most articles on Wiki, there should be some utilization from the New Grove and perhaps someone who can read Italian or German can provide some "meat" from a Boccherini biography out there. HammerFilmFan (talk) 20:20, 7 August 2011 (UTC) HammerFilmFan[reply]

Audio[edit]

There's a big cluster of audio files in this article. I think it would be better to have audio at List of compositions by Luigi Boccherini, except where a specific piece is mentioned in this article. Doing so would enable people to see more clearly what we have and what we don't have, in the way of free audio on Boccherini. Portrait[edit]

The following sentence was stranded at the end of the article:

N. B.: The first portrait was NOT painted by Etienne Mazas, but it is the work of violinist Jacques Féréol Mazas (1782-1849). See Marco Mangani, Luigi Boccherini, Palermo, L'Epos, 2005, pp. 30-31.
