Improving Article[edit]

I think I referenced the infoboxes well, I was planning to add content to and source the article itself tomorrow or the day after, because its 10PM here and i'm tired. Meanwhile, please don't challenge the material because as you can see in the boxes, I have reliable sources from equestrian specialists/enthusiasts which seem to corroborate most of the artice. Any sense but variations of brown?[edit]

An interesting and well-made content, but it reflects merely cultural references to the word "liver" as a color term, which is apparently used as an alias to brown. Note that Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Should it be converted to variations of brown, merging with relevant parts of Brown article? Is it obvious that there is no "standard" liver color, and its denotation varies in approximately the same range as "brown". Incnis Mrsi (talk) 07:22, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

The sRGB color codes for "Liver (Dogs)" #5D3B1A, "Liver Chestnut (horses)" #543D37, and "Liver (organ)" #6C2E1F do not appear anywhere in the sources they each cite. The first source is broken, but its archive shows no mention of liver and this article doesn't explain why earthtone is somehow synonymous with liver. The second one discusses horse genetics and its only mention of liver chestnut is that it's a "very dark chestnut"; it makes no mention of color codes whatsoever. The third source is just a photograph of a human liver. As far as I can tell there are no external sources for these names corresponding to the specific color codes given in the color infoboxes. I propose that those three infoboxes are removed, or at the very least their sources be removed since they don't actually support what they allege to.
