other meanings[edit]

I've seen "nexus" used in two other contexts: state tax jurisdiction and Henry Miller's book of that title. Can these be discussed, and where does the word itself come from? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.107.160.150 (talkcontribs) 03:25, 30 July 2003

- Is it answered now ? However I didn't know anything about state tax nexus.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.14.160.189 (talkcontribs) 16:58, 1 December 2003
Nexus in terms of state tax jursidictions deals with whether or not a given company is taxable in a certain state based on differing variables. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.61.240.171 (talk) 04:00, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's also the group of planets linked together in Lois Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan series which has been adopted as the name for the official fan web-site. Not clear whether this is the formal name in the books or not (away from books ATM). Phil 16:08, Jan 5, 2004 (UTC)

I've bitten the bullet and added it. Phil 15:05, Jan 20, 2004 (UTC)

An anonymous user added the following:

  • A geological point at which is equally distant from the five Elements (Fire, Water, Rock, Wood, and Metal).

I can find no independent justification for this; indeed I find myself in difficulty deciphering exactly what it is intended to mean (metal is an element?). I have therefore moved it here in the hope that someone can either justify it or kill it stone-dead. --Phil | Talk 14:20, May 12, 2004 (UTC)

I have no idea about the meaning, but it seems that "geographical point" is center(nexus) of circle of classical elements. It may imply balance, middle point or something else(like conglomerate of elements).classical elements are purely philosophical constructs, convienient categories which don't correlate to science. another game[edit]

Nexus was used for another game name, in 1998 one of the last Sega Saturn games Japan only. a Game call "Dungeon Master Nexus" is a 3d version of the Game serries Dungeon Master. which has spawned 4 games under the DM name and a 5th being a prequal to the serries. As I recall DM Nexus puts you in charge of entering this dungeon to find this "nexus" stone and free a good wizard from an evil spell. Seems to be almost completely based from the first game: Dungeon Master. Redirect[edit]

Unless someone can provide us with an argument to the contrary, it makes more sense for the 'The Nexus' article to redirect to the 'Nexus' article rather than the reverse. 24.202.107.232 21:16, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Sorting[edit]

The list of uses is getting pretty long now, might it be an idea to sort the entries into groups somehow? Perhaps

  1. historic uses
  2. uses in games
  3. uses in fiction
  4. other uses

PLAIN SIGHT[edit]

Any reason "plain sight" is in caps, quotes, and surrounded by extraneous spaces? Shouldn't it just be ..."plain sight"... ? Buddy13 21:09, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the "In Government" section entirely, as it was badly written and appeared to be mostly speculation worthy of conspiricy theorists ("get out of jail free cards"). It was also wrongly titled (should have been "In government") and in the wrong place (should have been sorted alphabetically).Thryduulf 23:11, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
