Lightsaber combat[edit]

Can we get a link to the seven forms of lightsbaer combat under the lightsaber entry? I don't know the title of the entry, but it'd be a nice touch.


Capital weapons[edit]

Hey, what about ion cannons and other ship-mounted weapons? Also, proton torpedoes. I overhear lots of people talking about how there are photon torpedoes in Star Wars, and now's our chance to correct that misunderstanding. There are Proton Torpedoes in Star Wars, they appear many times in Expanded Universe, including the book Jedi Trial. In fact, wasn't it a Proton Torpedo that Luke used to destroy the Death Star?

How about splitting up the article into Weapons of the Star Wars movies and Weapons of the Star Wars novels instead? I think that's a more natural division from the perspective of a casual reader, since the novels haven't had nearly as much cultural penetration. Even if it isn't split up like that, I suspect it would be a good idea to mention in the article where some of the more uncommon or novel-based weapons are introduced. --Bryan 18:38, 31 Dec 2003 (UTC)

I don't think this is such a good idea. Take, for example, lightsabers. We don't really know much about them apart from EU. An article strictly from the films would probably be quite misleading, especially in regards to color range and significance (of lack thereof). As for the Death Stars and the World Devastator, etc., perhaps those belong in an article about Star Wars ships, or perhaps even Star Wars Superweapons or Space Stations. --Aidje 22:57, 2005 Mar 1 (UTC)

Repeating blasters[edit]

Repeating Blasters are defined in the Essential Guide to Weapons and technology as just being light, portable artillery-type weapons. Snowtroopers tried to set one up in The Empire Strikes Back. Lightsaber colors[edit]

Jedi Weapon Spelling[edit]

It should be noted that the true spelling of the jedi weapon is Lightsabre as opposed to Lightsaber. This stems from the type of sword known as a "Sabre", from which the name of the fictional Jedi weapon is derived.

Rejuvenating the article[edit]

I'd like to re-do the article on the assault cannon that the dark troopers use. The current article has no reference to the Dark Forces assault cannon and only to the version seen in Battlefront, which is not the real assault cannon.Hoof146 20:55, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thermal Detonators[edit]

Should these actually be listed under melee weapons (by definition, hand to hand)? I certainly wouldn't want to use one without throwing it first. :-) Perhaps there needs to be another section, such as Explosives. This could also include information on land mines (as seen on Hoth), the charges used on Endor, etc. Also, what is the source for saying that they have an eight meter blast radius? I seem to recall an entire space station (or rather, "sky hook") being destroyed by a single thermal detonator near the end of Shadows of the Empire. --Aidje 23:13, 2005 Mar 1 (UTC)

Lightsabers[edit]

The word "helm" is used instead of the correct term, "hilt."


Fixed some erroneous references to Jedi classes[edit]

The article erroneously stated that "green-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Guardians; yellow-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Consulars; purple-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Sentinels..."

I altered this to the account in Knights of the Old Republic, in which "[b]lue-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Guardians; green-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Consulars; yellow-bladed lightsabers are loosely associated with Jedi Sentinels..."

Lightsaber colors, etc.[edit]

Well what about Red-Bladed Lightsabers are they only restricted to the sith and are the jedi allowed to possess this color Lightsaber. Also if green, blue, and yellow are the main clors for the jedi's, where does purple, silver, lime etc. fit in to. What do these colors mean and how do they fit into the jedi ways and traditions. Also I was wondering are Double Bladed Lightsabers only allowed by the sith because they are not used by the jedi in any of the movies, the only place i see them used in is "knights of the old republic 1 and 2" and "battlefront 2" etc. In "kotor 2" it says that the double blade is usually used by the dark side, but is it only used by the dark side is what i want to know.
The red crystal is slightly unstable and this is used to the advantage of Dark Jedi who draw their power from their unstable emotions. Colors outside of blue, green, red, yellow, and violet are not strictly affiliated with any alignment, due to their scarcity. Silver is typically bound to the light side, as well as viridian and turquoise. Dark siders normally have red blades, obviously, but occasionally they will have violet or orange. As far as double-bladed lightsabers go: they are difficult to master and tend to hurt the user more than the enemy. It is not forbidden that Jedi use these, but the more agressive nature of them is more suitable of a Sith/Dark Jedi or a Jedi Guardian. Many Jedi who want to have the best of both dual-wield lightsabers, as these is easier, safer, and less agressive than a double-bladed lightsaber. Big update coming soon[edit]

I recently got my hands on a massive volume containing loads of weapons and technology from the Star Wars universe. A lot of it either isn't described very well in the list or isn't even there at all. As soon as I can find some free time (not likely), I'll do some crazy editing. To "SoWhy", the Jedi Knight weapons have been included. Just remember that the video game only has a few weapons in comparison to the ones I am considering adding. Vibroblades[edit]

Uh, it's pretty established that vibroblades cannot deflect blasters or lightsaber attacks (not including cortosis ones). Someone remove that part.

All vibroblades have a cortosis weave. This only protects from sparring damage, however, it does not deflect blaster bolts. -Xol 02:28, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not entirely, 100% sure, but in KOTOR you can't get any melee weapon besides stun baton variants without a cortosis weave. It isn't like there's a technical requirement, but by the time of KOTOR I, you'd have to desprately search the galaxy for a vibroblade without cortosis. Even the barely-used swords from the Endar spire have cortosis weaves, according to Trask Ulgo (your first companion). Making a vibroblade without a cortosis weave would be like making a computer without a port for the mouse; it simple isn't done. Major organization needed[edit]

This article is also woefully incomplete, inaccurate, unorganized, and could generally use a major overhaul. For example, weapons should not be sorted by faction, but type. A textbook example would be a heading for ranged weapons, with a brief description and link to more detailed articles/lists about its subcategories, and then a list of known weapons in the SW universe that fall under thoes categories. For very specific details and examples, citations would be necessary as well. I can say that I'm pretty well versed in the SW lore, and I've also recently come across a nice volume that explains and describes LOTS of weapons and tech in SW. If I have time, I can contribute, but the main issue at hand is reorganizing this article into something other than an unprofessional, incoherent mess. Come on, people, Star Wars is a huge part of popular culture, and it deserves better than this. You should go look at how the firearms articles are sorted, and take the example. --mewarmo990 01:50, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

wrong info on blaster accessories[edit]

in the blasters article, there are a few pieces of incorrect information. Namely, a flash suppressor for a blaster, which is not possible, and is blatantly wrong based on information in many books. The blaster bolt is a beam of light, thusly, supressing the flash would supress the weapon itself. Also, it is stated in a few technical books, and many novels, that the Xerrol "Nightstinger" is the only blaster weapon that can fire an invisible beam. And, secondly, the sound suppressor for a blaster. Not mentioned in books, and physics, namely thermodynamics, dictate that supressing the noise of the interaction of superheated air surrounding the bolt cannot be done. and finally, I'd say that it should be added to a category, yes :P

assault cannon...[edit]

the assault cannon on the heavey weapons page should be updated, so that it mentions its dak forces heratige as a large plasma and rocket launcher more fitting of a real heavy weapon
