First scholarly Betsy Ross biography[edit]

This whole article needs revision, after careful consideration of the first scholarly Betsy Ross biography, with many details about her, her family, and the first American flags.

Why do we remember Betsy Ross 2600:1700:DFB0:2B80:3DE0:968F:7C78:2C78 (talk) 21:29, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

First US flag[edit]

The article talks of the Betsy Ross Flag as the first American Flag. What I'm not sure of is how this compares with the Grand Union Flag which preceded it and is noted (in an official source, mind you) to be the first, albeit unofficially. The symbolism of the Ross flag design has been discovered and new evidence proves the US Stars and Stripes is nearly 70 years older than known. Found on Scottish Jacobite coat buttons that symbolized the deposed house of Stuart. Sources are found in the British Parliament Archives.

The date on the picture is 1893 but it says she died in 1838 69.124.48.137 (talk) 12:17, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I altered the caption to hopefully make it clear that the date refers to the painting's creation, not the depicted year. --Pinchme123 (talk) 16:39, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
