The spanish derogatory slang word "marica" has derived from the spanish name "María". The old diminutives for words in spanish language were formed by the suffix "-ico" for male words, and "-ica" for female words. The name María was, then, "Mariíca". This was said to people who had homosexual tendencies, because they were considered as "little María's". The word evolved, then, to Marica. Is Marica a form of Artemis (Diana) or Aphrodite (Venus)?[edit]

Can someone tell me whether Marica is form of Artemis or Aphrodite as stated in this article? If she is Artemis, would it be that she bore children from Faunus (Pan) and wasn't a virgin goddess anymore? 59.92.137.83 (talk) 09:35, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
