Non-Chinese don't usually call them like "los Puertorriqueños chinos", right? Do they just call them "el chino" and "la china"? --Menchi 19:40 7 Jul 2003 (UTC)

<<<<<<Chinese people started arriving in Puerto Rico by large numbers during the 19th century. Many of them went to Puerto Rico to work on the island's rail systems of then, just like many other Chinese who emigrated to other parts of the world. >>>>

"Large numbers"??? The numbers of Asians that arrived in the island were incredibly small during the 19th century...can you state what historical sources you are basing that comment on?

<<<Many of the Asian train workers in Puerto Rico felt enchanted with the place, deciding to stay there the rest of their lives. >>>>>

Yes, and they also worked on the roads...but the majority of Asians who did come to the island where men not women --do you have any references for the number of women who came to the island during that time?

<<<<Also, because Chinese girls have married Puerto Rican boys almost since the time that the Chinese began settling there, many of today's Chinese-Puerto Ricans actually have Hispanic last names. >>>>>

Again, can you please state the source with specific numbers and time periods? I would truly want to read more into this...

About Chinese Puerto Rican having Hispanic last names, trust me, I lived in Puerto Rico 17 years, my neighbor, whose grandparents were Chinese, his last name is Rosa, I knew a Chinese-Puerto Rican girl that worked at some Wong Chuu or something restaurant, Lii Rodriguez, I dated her. Another girl I dated (but this one, her grandparents were actually from Vietnam), last name was Morales. And there are thousands of Chinese and Oriental-Puerto Ricans who have Latino names, cause someone outthere got married to a Puerto Rican guy along the line...

<<<<The info I got from this I got it from researching about the history of Chinese Puerto Ricans. This article was made so long ago, in other words......>>>>

I have somewhat researched the topic myself and cannot find any large influx
of Asians on the island --especially one regarding Asian women. I know that
Cuba had a significant influx of Asians during that time period but the same
cannot be said of Puerto Rico --the majority of our 19th century immigrants were Spaniards.

I would appreciate it you could remember the title of the article or author?
