CD disambig page?[edit]

I wish to strongly object to the decision to make CD into a redirect page, pointing to compact disc. I also object to CD (disambiguation) being used as the disambig page for CD.

CD is far to common a set of initials to be assumed to mean Compact Disc (or Disk) by most users. The most common other definition would be Certificate of deposit, a usage that long preceeds the invention of the recording technology. Civil defense also has a longstanding claim to the initials. In total, CD (disambiguation) lists no less than 14 definitions of CD.

I propose that the contents of CD (disambiguation) be moved to CD, making CD the primary disambig page. Kevyn 23:55, 9 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I disagree, and propose that CD remain Compact Disc, with a separate disambig page. Every child, adult, and teenager, rich or poor, boy or girl, black or white, in every country with running water, owns at least one Compact Disc, if not a whole shelf full. In contrast, Certificates of Deposit and Civil Defense are orders of magnitude less common, even if still important. Reswobslc 14:22, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
