A large part of the end of this article appears to have been chopped off. It can't be recovered from the history, since this page wasn't keeping any history. --Zundark, 2002 Feb 8

This may be occurring widely. I have been having problems tweaking long pages. The editor box will not allowed insertion. Thus after a bit of attempting to edit, leave without changes and head to talk.

Newcomers less familiar here and not using preview effectively may inadvertently save these kinds of pages, leading to truncation. I am more sensitive to this than usual since I have started active recruiting amongst various cliques, communities, family and longtime friends of the proper temperament. user:mirwin

This is to document problems I am having trying to edit Wikipedia:Bug reports on a Mac. In fact I cannot.

Using MacOS X 10.1.3

  • Explorer 5.1.3 (3905) truncates edit window (we think to about 32k). Does not allow entry of characters
  • Opera 5.0b5.465 truncates edit window to the same place. Allows entry of characters but on saving, the saved page is truncated. --VERY DANGEROUS

I just tried on Mac Classic 9.2 and found

  • Explorer 5.0 (2022) the same problem.

Would it be a bad idea to split this page up along categories, with UNCONFIRMED bug reports on the main bug report page and the rest on subpages? The Wiki model doesn't work very well for huge pages because it increases the risk of an Edit Conflict. --Damian Yerrick

Nearly complete. Does it feel better now? --Damian Yerrick

Microsoft fails for me. It gives error message

Warning: Failed opening 'Setup.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/w/wiki.phtml on line 12

Fatal error: Undefined class name 'outputpage' in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/w/wiki.phtml on line 14

copied from village pump- at present I can't use wikipedia at all...

Help! I'm having trouble logging onto many pages as quercus robur , including the main page, recent changes and my own watch list, pluys other random pages including some I've created- when I click the link I just get a load of gobbledegook- I thought maybe it was to do with IE on my PC, so tried logging on using my laptop, and another computer in the house, same problem, so guess I've either been blocked (surely somebody would have told me???) or theres a bug inthe wiki.... If anybody can advise please reply on my user talk page, which hopefully I'll be able to access... Cheers quercus robur 22:32 Oct 2, 2002 (UTC)

No, if you were blocked, it would tell you that you've been blocked, by whom, and why when you tried to edit (but wouldn't bug you on loading pages up). As far as "gobbledegook", that's the stuff that tells us what's wrong -- please cite it exactly in future. We've been having occasional "too many files open" kinds of errors lately; if you get one, just reload and you should be fine. (Some browsers may be a pain in the ass to reload properly, such as IE.) --Brion 22:38 Oct 2, 2002 (UTC)
Hi Brion- the messages (there are 2 I think) I get are;

"Warning: open(/tmp/sess_dabcc9488e83ffc5dc7bc72b18be920e, O_RDWR) failed: Too many open files in system (23) in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/w/wiki.phtml on line 7

Warning: Failed opening 'Setup.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/w/wiki.phtml on line 12

Fatal error: Undefined class name 'outputpage' in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/w/wiki.phtml on line 14

Warning: open(/tmp/sess_dabcc9488e83ffc5dc7bc72b18be920e, O_RDWR) failed: Too many open files in system (23) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0"

The other message is;

"Warning: Host 'localhost.localdomain' is blocked because of many connection errors. Unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts' in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/w/DatabaseFunctions.php on line 17 Could not connect to DB on 127.0.0.1"

I've had to create a new user name to be able to get to this page as well!! Please can you reply on my (Quercus robur) user page as that seems to bew one of the few pages I can still access!! Ta!

This might be due to some local problem, not sure. David 20:04 Sep 30, 2002 (UTC)

I have found an error - hope this is the right place to report:

The page describing Euler- Maclaurin has the
 following equation: sum i^3 = 1/4 n^4  -1/2 n^3 +1/4 n^3
  The last term should read ... 1/4 n^2
    dmiller897@aol.com
So edit it. See wikipedia:Why Aren't These Pages Copyedited? Martin 00:58, 15 Nov 2003 (UTC)

I have to see if you can get a new one for the next couple of days[edit]
