Too many pics![edit]

Hey there Vincent.. While wikipedia is by nature always evolving and expanding, you can't just flood an article (in this case, Melbourne) with photos. Your contributions, along with many others, were removed by others as they simply weren't as relevent or well-placed as they could have been. I'm going to try to recover some of the better images as I think that it was culled a little excessively. I just wanted to let you know that I thought some of your images were more suitable to other articles, as Melbourne has many already. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 21:16, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Jam factory.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jam factory.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 14:39, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

logos[edit]

MOst logos are copyright. Wikipedia asserts that we can use them as 'fair use' in articles, unfortunately that does not extended to templates, userpages, and userboxes. Please see WP:FUC for details. You seem to be having some problems with image copyright, may I suggest that you cease uploading and using images until you have familliarised yourself with our copyright policies. Copyright enfringements endanger wikipedia, and admins will deal harshly with repeat offenders. --Doc ask? 09:15, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:User Uni Monash Please review WP:FUC and do not reinsert copyright enfringing images back into templates once admins have removed them. I'd advise you not to use images in wikipedia again until you have fully familliarised yourself with our copyright policies. Consider this a final warning. (And please do not immediately remove warnings from your talk page) --Doc ask? 21:52, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good work[edit]

Hey Vincent! Nice work on uploading some good pictures, including the one of Howitt Hall from afar. Regrettably, some childish vandals have decided to list this for deletion, so it would be appreciated if you could have a look at the afd page and see what you think. Cheers, THE KING 19:22, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, i'm from Howitt, lived there last year and had a great time. THE KING 13:04, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The "MRS lake" shot is a great one - fantastic lighting, I couldn't recognise where it was at first! Natebailey 12:52, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable article WhatWomenWant[edit]

The article WhatWomenWant has been or soon will be deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a subject but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 12:54, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Turret Wars has been proposed for deletion. I felt this article might represent a conflict of interest or otherwise seemed to be advertising. It also has very little actual information. As such, it may not be appropriate for an article. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. Hi Vincentshia

Wikipedia is a free editable website. I may not be able to understand your message. My purpose is trying to upload the Image:MelbCBD.jpg , which has a broader and clear view of the Hoddle Grid to the viewers of the free encyclopedia. Now I have uploaded Image:MelbCBD.jpg into the article of Melbourne again but it seems there is a sort of the duplication of the image for the Wikipedia project of Melbourne. Your comments will be welcome Regards --Donaldtong (talk) 15:38, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vincentshia - I have come to Donaldtong's talk page in response to another question by Donald (answered separately) but thought I would add my two cents to the comment raised by you at Donaldtong's talk page - that is:

Hi Donald. You've got some great photos here on Wikipedia, but it would be great if we could keep my photo of the CBD. Do you have a website for your photos? --Vincentshia (talk) 13:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In response to "keep my photo" and other discussion points, I suggest you take the issue to the talk page of the article and note the policy of Wikipedia:Ownership of articles which deals with Some contributors feel very possessive about material (be it categories, templates, articles, images, essays, or portals) that they have contributed to this project. Some go so far as to defend them against all others. It is one thing to take an interest in an article that you maintain on your watchlist. Maybe you really are an expert or you just care about the topic. But if this watchfulness starts to become possessiveness, then you may be overdoing it. The policy notes it is "important to respect the work of your fellow contributors". Neither photo of the CBD will be deleted unless it breaches copyright policy or similar. It is probably not appropriate to use two images of the same subject in an article and hence my suggestion to resolve the matter on the talk page of the article involving other editors. --Matilda talk 22:27, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
