This article should add a mention to the use of the Print Screen key prior to the invention of Windows. In DOS, the Print Screen key sent a complete screen dump to the LPT1 port. If a line printer was attached, it would receive the character stream and begin printing it. More advanced printers (e.g. laser) would buffer the content until a full page was used. Once the space of a page was exceeded, the contents of the buffer would print.

special function?

isn't the media player 'feature' just video overlay showing through in the imaging application? try saving an image you've made like that, the video shouldn't be there once you close WMP. not only that, the video itself will be fixed in its current position on the screen, and moving or resizing the screenshot makes for some fun yet useless results. it's just the overlay color letting the video show through. turn off overlays and you get two effects: 1) video no longer "plays" in the imaging application when you take a screenshot, and 2) you can actually *save* the frame in the screenshot. or am i mistaken?
