Crime, anyone?[edit]

There is no mention of crime on this article. If the person(s) involved in writing this piece on Palatka works for the city, this is disingenuous at best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.180.85.135 (talk) 16:54, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is it notable or unusual? Does Palatka have a large mafia or gang presence? We don't record every crime any more than we list all census records... — LlywelynII 22:41, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Census information needs to be replaced with 2010 information.[edit]

The racial makeup of Palatka has changed. Please see http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/12/1253875.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:E:9080:1C8:A596:75BA:FDD2:20D2 (talk) 02:01, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tangerines[edit]

Given that this municipality is almost entirely unexceptional and little known for anything else, it's probably worth noting somewhere on the page that it's the home of American and commercial production of tangerines. Apparently the original tree imported or grown from seeds from Tangiers was on the property Dr Nathaniel H. Moragne bought from Maj. Atway in 1843.

On the other hand, note sources like this, which credit "Major Atway"—never a first name—for introducing mandarin oranges via Bayou Sara, Louisiana, whence they were introduced by the Italian consul in the 1840s. Sources seem to credit him with one or the other but not both, so presumably he accomplished one and the other is a misunderstanding or mistake that's been picked up uncritically by other writers. — LlywelynII 22:36, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
