Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crawdaddy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ran a google search and could find no factual evidence for this game. Not very plausible, delete article but keep page as a redirect to Crayfish.--205.188.116.130 14:07, 8 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is a game called crawdad [1] but it has no resemblance to the text in the article. --Ben Brockert 14:23, May 8, 2004 (UTC)
  • Comment: Sounds like the sort of card game that gets played at school in break times. Not sure what kind of status a game of that nature needs to be included. I used to play a game called Blackjack which was very different to the casino game of the same name. So, I suppose I've allowed my own personal nostalgia to stay my (aha!) hand. --bodnotbod 20:24, May 8, 2004 (UTC)
    • Odd that an English schoolyard card game would be called crawdaddy. Do they have crayfish in England? I tenatively vote to keep, having played something like this under a different name. Rhymeless 05:32, 9 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • I live in Australia, and we play Crawdaddy all of the time, I troubles me that the World Wide Wiki is reluctant to keep an article on a great game such as this--24.129.180.34 13:06, 10 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
    • Then would you 24.129.180.34 be willing to review the article and expand on it as appropriate? Thanks! Oh, and I vote keep. Alcarillo 14:03, 10 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think that crawdaddy is a great game, I play it all the time. I would be greatly disappopinted if it was taken away; I vote to keep it. --unsigned, (18:44, May 10, 2004, User:Josephk) (account created today)
  • I, too, enjoy playing Crawdaddy while in company of friends. This site was the only one to have the complete rules of the game, a definate keep on the Wiki--Stinkoman K 20:01, 10 May 2004 (UTC) (account created today)[reply]
  • I also love this game! It is so difficult to find such a detailed description of it online; I am pleased to see that it is on Wiki, and would be dismayed if it was removed. (User:Hereiam777, account created today)
  • Has there ever been a decision on allowing probable sock puppets to vote here? - Hephaestos|§ 21:45, 10 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
    • They are allowed to vote but their vote may not be given much weight when a decision to delete the article is made. UninvitedCompany 21:56, 10 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
      • Sounds like *somebody* really wants the page to stay...unnecessary though, as it will probably be kept anyway...I vote keep, as minor as it may or may not be, it is most likely a real variation on Blackjack.--Beelzebubs 03:11, 11 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • looks like a troll to me, given (i) the bizarre nature of the rules, (ii) the lack of evidence after some searching and (iii) the sock puppet votes above. At the very least, "currently popular in England" is unverifiable at best and should be removed. --A1r 16:30, 12 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • Add a redirect to crawfish and delete the rest Burgundavia 07:37, May 13, 2004 (UTC)
  • No vote on deletion (it looks highly suspicious but I can't prove that it's fake) but I oppose the redirect to crawfish. The synonym for crawfish is crawdad. Crawdaddy is not recognized in any dictionary I've checked nor is it in use anywhere in my experience. Rossami 22:08, 14 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
