Fair use rationale for Image:039 32855~Butch-Cassidy-and-the-Sundance-Kid-.jpg[edit]

Image:039 32855~Butch-Cassidy-and-the-Sundance-Kid-.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Original Research[edit]

The movie was partially filmed near Durango, Colorado. (The area where they jump into the river is just north of Baker's Bridge in SW Colorado.) In the scene where a railroad car is blown up, the railroad car was built for the scene out of balsa wood and toothpicks. The budget only allowed for one take, and therefore an unusually high amount of explosives was used. The explosion was huge, and the line "Think ya used enough dynamite there, Butch?" is reported to be an ad lib, according to locals who observed.

I believe the above paragraph is possibly all original research but I felt better putting this on the talk page than editing myself. NeilCoughlin (talk) 02:18, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Actor Assignment?[edit]

So who played Butch Cassidy in the movie - I think the article has the actors reversed.

Prezbama (talk) 01:52, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the article is wrong, so are IMDB, TCM & Allmovie -- Paul Newman played Butch Cassidy. Ed Fitzgerald t / c 02:03, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Allmovie[edit]

Reference available for citing in the article body. Erik (talk) 20:13, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance KidButch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (film)—- They were also actual living people and this article deals with some film 193.166.138.183 (talk) 11:11, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose They are now actual dead people with their own articles, and best known through this film. The biographical links appear in the first two lines. Johnbod (talk) 15:31, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose If anyone was looking for the men rather than the film then they'd search for them individually. Someoneanother 18:42, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per the above. -ukexpat (talk) 19:04, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per the above, plus the simple fact that the film is much more notable than the men. THF (talk) 05:09, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Budget[edit]

In the infobox it says, under Budget, $8000,000 which is meaningless; perhaps someone who knows could supply the correct figure. Jodosma (talk) 19:10, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This (page 191 at the bottom) mentions $6.825 million, and I've updated the "budget" field with that number and citation. Erik (talk | contribs) 19:31, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

George Roy Hill not Roy Hill[edit]

I changed "Roy Hill" to "George Roy Hill" in a couple of sections. George Roy Hill can be referred to as George Hill, George Roy Hill, Mr. Hill, or Maj. Hill but not Roy Hill. That was his father, my grandfather, George Roy Hill I. Never will you see my uncle referred to as Roy Hill by any friends, family or other media professionals. - Kit Hill, Ed.D., LMFT
