Its stated aims are to secede from the Bangkok administration through military and political means and unite with Malaysia as a state named Patani Darussalam (Patani, Land of Peace).

Can somebody confirm this? I can't find anything about PALO wanting to join Malaysia. If there is no source, I'll delete it. __earth 09:34, Dec 1, 2004 (UTC)

They want an independent state not a combined state with malaysia...=)

Merge[edit]

I am against the proposed merge... separatism is not just the insurgency... that is part of it... however, to equate it only to the insurgency is not correct. gren グレン 08:28, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The PULO website is no longer exist

Map[edit]

It would be good if the map could show the current borders between 3 provinces in Pattani Nil Einne 15:13, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thai Wiki article?[edit]

Could someone who reads Thai check to see if there is an article on this subject on the Thai Wikipedia? Thanks! -Fsotrain09 03:29, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

factual accuracy[edit]

The reason I put this sign up because there are concerns in Thai Wikipedi relating to the factual accuracy AND naturality of this article. I myself also find it hard to believe. There are also NO references what soever about anything written in this article so I want to warn the users about the facts may be inaccurate. --Jutiphan 18:12, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No actual facts confirmed[edit]

Pattani region or Pattani kingdom was a theory of separatists with no actual evidences or provable claims. No references were official and authenticated made by any historian but a single separatist who claimed so. Please do not refer any of these details to public media.

The actual history will be translated soon. Kriver 10:16, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Kriver[reply]

While the sultanate or kingdom of Pattani was a tributary kingdom of Siam for a long time of its history, there were periods of time when it had "liberated" itself (or from a Thai viewpoint it was in rebellion) from the overlordship of the Thai king. There was of course no formal "declaration of independence", as this western concept did not spread there at that time, but denying to provide the tribute payment or troops requested by the Thai king is the equivalent. IMHO the article right now is neutral to either the Thai and the Malay viewpoint, so while additional historical facts are of course welcome, please do not move the article to the Thai viewpoint only - see Wikipedia:NPOV. andy 11:23, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
