DANFS text[edit]

There are phrases in this article such as:

  • However spirited gunnery and perfectly timed radical simultaneous turns enabled the American vessels to thwart the attackers
  • the fearless destroyer
  • the valiant ship
  • she demanded the attention of her antagonists by peppering them
  • stouthearted captain

Can anyone improve on the text? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobblewik (talkcontribs) 08:16, August 17, 2004

  • This is typical of material sourced from the DANFS; see Wikipedia:WikiProject Ships/DANFS conversions for general advice. More serious than this POV is the absurd claim, "Although Japanese records deny that these torpedoes hit the cruiser [Haguro], there is no evidence to indicate any other explanation for the geyser effect observed" — as if the crew of Haguro wouldn't know if they had been torpedoed or not!
