Untitled[edit]

Looking over the Julius West page it seems small (to be sure) and also onesided as if a teacher or over enthusiastic staff wrote it. Any one in here feel like helping me out. To the best of my knowledge (as an alum of the IB program, all four years), there is no fighting for 25 spots. Certainly when I was there (1996-2000) as many people got the diploma as were academically able, out of the original 100 or so who were admitted as freshmen. Also, the footnote that follows this statement in the article does not actually support this claim. I am therefore deleting it. Dgrobinson 00:40, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From what I know, anyone in the MYP program(me) is eligible to apply for the IB program(me) at the end of their sophomore year. Of the people who apply, 25 of them are allowed into IB and the rest go into normal classes. I really don't know how they decide which 25, but it probably involves grades and such. How are the 25 people selected ? It also includes the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), in which freshmen and sophomores take rigorous classes, then fight for 25 spots in the IB program at the end of their sophomore year.

Fictional and POV information is repeatedly being replaced here after I have removed it. The following is what I am refering to.

Richard Montgomery High School is also noted as the birthplace of the Richard Montgomery Liberation Front, or RMLF. The organization finds its roots in the WGLF movement which began the college debate community. The RMLF began as a political movement led by Vishal Ganesan and Leonard Chang in reponse to the yearly student government elections. After suffering a tragic electoral defeat, the liberation front began to gain a foothold in the IB student body and even gained the sponsorship of renowned English teacher and "It's Academic" team leader Mr. McKenna.

An especially important part of the Richard Montgomery lifestyle is to be a part of the Cross Country Team. All of the elite students are on the team, making it one of the prettiest teams in Maryland. They are the 2004 division champions, and will hold that title for many years to come.

How the 25 people are selected: They have to be 10th grade Honors or MYP students, and have to be from Richard Montgomery's home district. Over-represented POV and Out-of-Date Information[edit]

At Richard Montgomery HS, students in the IB Program make up a distinct minority of the students. Why is it, then, that this article almost entirely discusses things related to the IB Program. Two thirds of the section on "academics" refers exclusively to the IB and MYP Programs, and almost all of the "Activities" section describes clubs that are majority IB students. While none of this information needs to be removed, it must be supplemented by more information about the rest of the school. Some information is out of date. Two examples are the statistics for student-faculty ratios, which are from 2003, and the link to US News and World Report refers to an article from several years ago. No only was the IB program a small school within a school at RM, bu this "history" completely omits the hugely popular and successful vocational education programs that were a hall mark of RM unto 1993. Suburban[edit]

I don't understand the claim that RM is in an "urban area." It is in an incorporated city, admittedly, but that doesn't make it urban. Rockville (and all of Montgomery County, for that matter) is pretty clearly a suburb of DC. On what basis is it being claimed to be urban? john k 02:38, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suburb of DC, yes. Suburban, no. Rockville is definitely a city with industry and stuff, not a bunch of housing developments.I guess it could be more correctly identified as a metropolitan area.--Phixxor 03:22, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Noone[edit]

I find it highly doubtful that the British singer Peter Noone attended high school in the US. His own article says he was educated at schools in Manchester, England. I am deleting his name from the list of alumni.Silchas11 (talk) 14:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The drummer went to RM. Evidence: the NPR recording of their show at the black cat, you can hear Josh ask the crowd, in a lull between songs, if anyone went to Richard Montgomery High School.
