I'm going to start researching a few of them and will probably start deleting some of them unless sources can be attributed to them. Renrenren 22:07, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are a number of NHL players absent from this list. Others that are included are actually fom elsewhere.

Rumours[edit]

I don't know that rumours belong in a wikipedia article. As such, I`ve removed the rumours from the article page. Renrenren 20:45, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ken Trevenna does not apear to be a relevant person from Timmins.

External links on Timmins, Ontario page[edit]

I've started reorganizing the links on this page. In my opinion, there are WAY too many links in the first place. I know most links are information based, and have not been put up in an effort to drum up business. However, if you look at other pages such as Toronto, Ontario, North Bay, Ontario, Ottawa, Ontario, all of these municipalities are larger than Timmins and have way fewer external links. I just think we need to find a way to make things more concise. Perhaps adding links in the article where they should appear would be one way to solve this issue. --Renrenren 19:03, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've been warned for adding external links to articles about towns/cities. The only links that seem to be acceptable to everyone are the official websites of the town, .gov links, or links to historical societies. No links to businesses or clubs or even non-profit organizations belong in the external links section of an article on a city/town - people can search Google if they need that kind of information about a municipality. --Sinned 01:50, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timmins Redirect[edit]

I made Timmins redirect here, and created Timmins (disambiguation) for what was originally there. I would say that this is the most prominant use of the name Timmins, the other 4 are Noah Timmins, and four of his grandchildren, (three are in the Cowboy Junkies, all articles are stubs). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelapstick (talkcontribs) 20:27, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Project Ratings[edit]

I moved this article's importance rating to "Mid" to be consistent with most of the other cities in Ontario. PKT (talk) 23:24, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sister city[edit]

Why is the sister city listed in Japan? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.159.7.116 (talk) 07:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rename page[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

This page should be renamed to simply Timmins, in accordance with WP:CANSTYLE, replacing the existing redirect. Timmins (disambiguation) lists no other places, and otherwise lists people who are properly titled by full names. Therefore this place name should be considered primary usage. The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

sports[edit]

I've added Paul Harrison as an NHL player. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.101.121.21 (talk) 15:35, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stub Sections[edit]

It seems that alot of the sections are just links to other sections. Instead of just posting the links, someone should make a summary of the section instead. It is just a thought. I will check on this and if nobody does it, I will do it one my spare time. 67.204.198.44 (talk) 04:10, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Demographics wrong[edit]

According to Statistics Canada, the population of Timmins increased 0.4% between 2006 and 2011 (not 3.1% as stated in the article) for a 2011 population of 43,165 (not 45,000).

IP edit about 'Hans Buttner'[edit]

@Magnolia677: Dear Magnolia,
Thank you for reverting this edit, here. Like you, I had already checked the original edit (by the IP) earlier this morning and allowed it to stand, because that detail is mentioned in the external link at the bottom of the page of the linked-to article on the McIntyre Mines. To make things clearer, though, I have tidied up that link and inserted it also into the present article—right after "Discovered by Sandy McIntyre (1869-1943),"— and it is now #5 ("Founding Fathers") in the list of references. In passing, I also tidied up a couple of other ref tags by replacing the raw urls with 'cite web' templates.
In summary, the earlier (unsourced) edit by the IP was correct, although it was sourced only in the linked-to article. It's up to you, but it would be sourced in the present article also if you or anyone else wanted to re-instate the mention of 'Hans Buttner'.
Thank you.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 12:24, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Red links[edit]

Hi, if someone could redirect those red links or create the pages, that would be helpful. Thank you! ~Regina (Nov 15, 2021) 2001:1970:568B:6900:AD13:12D4:A2A2:59A0 (talk) 23:26, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
