"Only a few gallons of fuel"

Just for the record, I removed the last part of this sentence:

"Finally, after 9 days, 3 minutes, and 44 seconds of flight, they touched down on December 23 with only a few gallons of fuel remaining."

The reason being that it is superfluous, uninformative, and a bit sensationalistic. The general rule in flight planning is to carry only the fuel required for the mission, plus a small reserve. There are exceptions (tankering, island holding fuel, ...) but this flight wasn't one of them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.32.157.254 (talk) 16:16, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
