Anyone know what this is or why it is here? --rmhermen

Well, it's a matter of culture to know what it is -- since it's one of
the most important works of literary Symbolism. But I agree to the fact
that it has no business in an encyclopedia. So please delete it and put
some description instead. By the way, is this really public domain?

What's left of this really doesn't say much about the subject. Copyright is not an issue here since we are talking about something originally published in 1861. More extended comments about this poem, which is indeed a major work in French Literature, would be more in keeping with what Wikipedia is about. I'm personally opposed to cluttering Wikipedia with long texts of easily available works; this view applies just as well to Origin of Species and Macbeth that are currently in the project. They should all be treated equally. Nevertheless, if it is accepted that they all stay the Baudelaire text should probably be moved to the French language Wikipedia. Eclecticology
