Two lists[edit]

I've paired this list with the chronological order list at List of British rail accidents. It would be good if someone could add entries from that list that aren't on here and vice versa. Thryduulf 01:31, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)

List of British rail accidents by death tollList of United Kingdom rail accidents by death toll — I appreciate this may be a slightly controversial proposal, but "United Kingdom" is more accurate than "British", especially with Armargh at #4 on the list. There's also no chance of anyone thinking that the list is confined to accidents for which British Rail alone was responsible. Note also that the date-sorted article is at List of rail accidents in the United Kingdom rather than List of British rail accidents (currently a redirect). — Tevildo (talk) 13:35, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as nominator. Tevildo (talk) 13:37, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support very sensible proposal. Don't see why it would require a WP:RM. Maybe someone will tell me. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 10:09, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Well, I can't be confident that it _won't_ be controversial - see Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics. :) I'm sure there are some editors who would probably prefer "List of rail accidents in England, Scotland, Wales, and the Six Counties", but I hope that my proposal will be acceptable. :) Tevildo (talk) 11:04, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support; less ambiguous and more consistent than current title -- Starbois (talk) 08:45, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sort order[edit]

The primary sort order is by death toll. What are the secondary sort criteria? Where two accidents have the same death toll, are they then arranged by injuries; date; or alphabetically? --Redrose64 (talk) 19:31, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have always assumed it is by date with the most recent coming first, but checking reveals this is not always the case! GrahamHardy (talk) 18:26, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Possible merge into 'List of rail accidents in the United Kingdom'[edit]

I have reworked the List of rail accidents in the United Kingdom to use sortable tables allowing it to be used to identify the worst accidents by deaths, injuries or date. I have also created a section for 'worst accidents' in that article and taken a copy of the 'Disasters on railway premises' section from this article. I have ensured that all incidents mentioned in this article occur in the other one. As such can I suggest we turn this page into a redirect and focus our efforts on the single article going forward? Completed conversion to redirect and removed banner from this page. PeterEastern (talk) 04:10, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
