Catherine of Aragon

806 – Arab–Byzantine wars: The Abbasid army departed Raqqa in northern Syria to begin an invasion of Byzantine-controlled Asia Minor.
1509 – Catherine of Aragon (pictured) married King Henry VIII of England, becoming the first of his six wives.
1923 – Kitosh, an African labourer, died after having been flogged by his British employer, in a case that eventually led to reform of the legal system of the Kenya Colony.
1963 – Vietnamese monk Thích Quảng Đức burned himself to death in Saigon to protest the persecution of Buddhists by Catholic South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem's administration.
2008 – Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper apologised to the First Nations for past governments' policies of forced assimilation.

2009[edit]

In the Bering Strait and Bering Strait bridge articles a competition's winner is to be announced on this day in 2009. It says

A purely private competition was announced February 10, 2009 for the design of a bridge across the Strait via the Diomede Islands. The winner(s) will be announced June 11, 2009.

2010[edit]

You are correct. But like many other similar events, it is pointless to revert the addition for a few days, because it will be relentlessly added back in by anons with no regard for WP:DOY or WP:3RR. Births and deaths[edit]

In accordance with the guidelines, I'm continuing to weed the Births and Deaths sections by removing entries for celebrities with 0-4 articles in other languages. Where possible, these have been transferred to the relevant Year in Topic articles. As well as making the lists more manageable, this will help with the globalization effort. Alexander the Great's death[edit]

Alexander the Great's death is listed on both the June 10 and June 11 pages - what is the correct way of flagging up in the entries that these are alternative possible dates? JezGrove (talk) 22:46, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
