Marketing[edit]

Someone should add a section about how much they've been marketing the CRAP out of this thing this year. I'm seeing Bonnaroo videos mixed into otherwise unrelated Youtube searches, Bonnaroo references inserted into Adult Swim/Cartoon Network bumps, lots of viral stuff. It's kind of annoying. Maybe do some digging, find out who's responsible for the ad campaign, why they're going so overboard with it. 129.7.255.90 (talk) 04:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2011 is being marketed as the 10th anniversary of the festival. In one part of this article, 2001 is given as the first year. In my memory (and in another part of the article), 2002 is given as the first year. The official website lists artist line ups going back to 2002. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.197.68.23 (talk) 21:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The last commenter needs to do his math. 2002 to 2011, inclusive, IS 10 years. So, the claims that it is celebrating its 10th year are correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.110.138.132 (talk) 09:06, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
THIS commenter needs to learn english. "anniversary" is number of years passed...NON-inclusively.
if first concert was 2002; "10th anniversary" concert is indeed 2012. no one cares that it's the 11th concert. 2601:19C:527F:A680:EDEC:EDBF:BFBE:905C (talk) 14:34, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy[edit]

I think there should be a portion about the controversy of Bonnaroo. Apparently there is some controversy about the scope of corporate sponsorship and the stylistic difference of the current performers as opposed to the first few lineups. It would be more of a section contrasting the old from new and the pros and cons of the changes. I can't really add any more input on the subject because I don't fully now the topic--which is why someone needs to write this! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.153.135.123 (talk) 05:42, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think I've seen or heard any controversy about the things that you've mentioned. Bonnaroo seems quite proud of its dealings with the corporate sponsors--infusing them into the spirit of the event instead of having stages named after them. I was just there and I didn't hear anyone complaining. And any "pros and cons of the changes" between the old and the new would be personal opinion/original research, which is opposed to Wiki's standards. I haven't done an extensive search, but unless a notable blogger has complained and inspired more of a complaint-fest, then I doubt there's much worthwhile to say. Bonaroo attracts bigger names and has expanded its genre-offering since its beginning, but it has the same basic core. If there's any controversy, it might be the deaths and drugs. But that's not much new for music festivals. Shadow Phoenix (talk) 00:50, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It clearly is an entirely different audience now than what it was 10 years ago. They have pop acts instead of jam bands. Not really a controversy per say, but its well known. 24.207.129.95 (talk) 01:39, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Bonnaroo Music Festivals by Year" articles - reorganization[edit]

This pertains to the Bonnaroo Music Festivals by year articles (the ones that are "20xx Bonnaroo Music Festival")... I've posted it here for visibility. Help me redirect the discussion if necessary. These articles don't follow the same format. They're disorganized and lengthy. I feel they are not useful from an encyclopedic perspective. I propose we list the bands/artists by notability (headliners first) and remove the date and stage distinctions. We should also remove the list of films shown in the cinema tent. I think we should add the Bonnaroo font and theme as a headline image to each article. - Rantankamus (talk) 19:32, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
