Indie 103.1's inclusion should be reconsidered, because last I checked, it was part of Clear Channel. That's about as far from 'independent' as you can get. --Hersch 22:06, 21 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, not quite. It was operated by Clear Channel, but has always been owned by Entravision, a Spanish-language broadcaster. Earlier in 2005, the FCC required Clear Channel to sever all ties to Indie 103.1.
The "indie"-ness of 103.1 stems largely from the fact that, apart from ownership issues, its administration and cost structure are very much like that of a true independent station. Overhead is insanely low, and the celebrities who host radio shows (Steve Jones, Dave Navarro, Rob Zombie, Danny Masterson, etc.) do so for little or no compensation. It fills a nice niche here in LA.--Slightlyslack 06:08, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why this is called an 'indie radio' list and not a 'community radio' list. What does "... any radio stations not directly affiliated with any radio network, or with any college, university, for-profit company, or government. All listed stations are considered to be community radio." have to do with indie? Indie is slang for 'independent' which could very well be for profit, part of a network, non-community, etc.

Triple J[edit]

As a goverment station, shouldn't Triple J be removed? --LeakeyJee 10:51, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
