Armstrong[edit]

I was trying to think of a way of saying that Louis Armstrong was not born on July 4, 1900, which was a date invented for publicity purposes. He was born a year and a month later. Normally, we wouldn't note the days people were not born because it would pretty much clog up every entry, but Louis was famous for having been "born" on that day. The biographical entry mentions the discrepancy. Ortolan88

Removal of British Channel swimming event[edit]

After discussion with the user who posted this (88.110.146.18), I am removing this entry from events:

The reason is that it does not meet Wikipedia:Notability on a global scale over time, the criteria that has been established for listing events on Wikicalendar pages. Mr. Walliams, though he may be a notable person, is not the first or the fastest man to swim the channel, nor the first to raise money. It was certaininly a notable accomplishment for him, which should be detailed on his page, but not here. If anyone has any comments, feel free to discuss them here. But that proposed guideline has no weight. There is no evidence it has consensus - you are the only editor. It is clearly still in the formative stages - there are still lots of meta-questions embedded in the guidelines. Even the main WikiProject it is meant to apply to is in serious breach of the proposed guidelines. Using this proposal as a reason to quash one particular entry is inappropriate. True, I contributed to that proposal, but so did many others. It was formed because many requested such guidelines on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Days of the year. Currently, many editors (in fact, the majority of editors that frequent the Wikicalendar project) follow the guidelines because they are common sense. Since it has been posted, there have been no serious criticisms. Given your comments to me now and those in the past, I feel your motives are rooted from unfounded dislike of my editing rather than rationality. If anyone has any genuine problems with the proposal, please feel free to discuss them on the proposal's talk page. Fabricationary 14:40, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I came across Top 10 Events That Occurred On The 4th Of July which seemed like a good source as its is from a notable site and written by a professor. --24.112.187.219 (talk) 17:22, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Birth and death entries[edit]

Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, I've removed some celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present. This is in accordance with the guidelines.Deb (talk) 11:50, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Malia Obama was born in July 4th. I don't know if she is famous enough, but she could be considered for July 4th births.2601:285:200:5156:ED41:5E1B:389C:DF92 (talk) 14:51, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
