Before Bon Jovi[edit]

I'm having some level of difficulty verifying the following paragraph that was found on the Bon Jovi page. Richie's website appears to be under reconstruction at the moment (24/10/02), and bonjovi.com just switched to a new design a couple months ago, some information seems to be missing still and I'm not familiar with the layout quite yet.

"Before joining Bon Jovi, Richie had toured with Joe Cocker, played with a group called Mercy and had just been called up to audition for Kiss. He also played in the album "Lessons" with the band "Message", that has been recently rereleased in CD through Long Island Records."

Guitarrista de merda,só não é pior que o Slash.Pode parar de ler essa merda e vai fazer algo útil. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.94.163.53 (talk) 20:45, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone provide a reliable source for this information? I've been able to verify that Richie appeared on the "Lessons" album, and the rest sounds right from my recollection, but I don't want to go on my own faulty memory here.

-nknight When Bon Jovi appeared on A & E Private Sessions in 2010 Richie confirmed he had auditioned for Kiss prior to joining Bon Jovi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.217.244.21 (talk) 17:11, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Has he got an illness/ overweight?[edit]

I have recently been to see Bon Jovi in Manchester (4 June 06) and I waspretty close to the giant screens showing the bands performance, and Richie had a very chubby face, I thought ok, he's just benn dumped by Heather Locklear, but it didn't seem right! He looked pretty horrible, really chubby cheeks, eyes looked weird as well, and it didn't look like his body was overweight.

  • No, no illness has been announced. He was going through a hard time at that point, his wife ended their marriage (apparently without telling him, depending on which media outlet you believe) and his father was either terminally ill or recently passed at the time. Given recent reports, however, he may well have been drinking a lot then and his weight bore the effects of that. Sky83 (talk) 00:32, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV[edit]

There are still some parts of this article that read like a fan site and not like an encyclopedia. Please correct as necessary. --D-Day I'm all ears How can I improve? 22:17, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed --LodeRunner 01:27, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article quality = not good[edit]

Not good at all. I'll see what I can do.Mikejstevenson 12:51, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That whole 'career' section really is a load of crap. Artificial Harmonics are mostly found in the genre of death metal??? Who wrote this rubbish? Except for the talkbox section, it's all going I'm afraid.Mikejstevenson 12:57, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Better, but still not nearly good enough. Will work on it.Mikejstevenson 13:21, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely NO ONE has mentioned his production work with both Bon Jovi and other artists

Bon Jovi section[edit]

What's up with the separate Bon Jovi section? It doesn't even mention Sambora in there. If people want to know about Bon Jovi they should go to Bon Jovi's wiki entry. I haven't seen something done like that elsewhere in Wikipedia, I'd recommend removing that section. Nerfer (talk) 07:01, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I removed the section. It had no citations, had areas marked as using weasel words and needed NPOV. Plus, it was about Bon Jovi, not Sambora! (Sambora's name was only mentioned once, in the 2nd to last paragraph). If somebody wants to put it back in, it should be written to be about Bon Jovi's work with Sambora (with citations). For strictly Bon Jovi information, follow the link to the Bon Jovi article. Nerfer (talk) 23:54, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Major issues with the article[edit]

This is one of the worst messes I've ever seen on Wikipedia. The few coherent paragraphs that aren't bullet-style lists read as if written by a first grader. I cleaned up the "Personal life" section, and also added the bits about his alcohol addiction, stint in rehab and DUI arrest (can't even believe that they weren't already in the article). The main body of the article is random information about his equipment, and there's barely an outline of a biography included. Hardly a single reference is cited within the entire article, save for the five or six I included with my additions. I really don't care one lick about Richie Sambora and stumbled on to this article out of sheer insomnia-enduced boredom; but those of you who are interested in this guy's music should really work on shaping up this hunk of junk entry.

I cleaned up the talk page a little bit too, as most of the entries on it were outdated by years or just spam. Shamrox (talk) 09:46, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The main picture of him is most definitely NOT Richie Sambora. He does not look that old, he does not wear those kind of clothes, he does not have that kind of facial hair. I don't know what band the dude who took the picture saw but if that was the guitarist, then it was not Bon Jovi. That is a picture of Richie you tit!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.149.249.199 (talk) 03:19, 7 February 2009 (UTC) #[reply]

This is a picture of him in April of 2008 http://www.usmagazine.com/richie-sambora-plea-bargains-dui. From a RELIABLE source. So unless he had some MAJOR surgery to make him look as ugly as shit it is NOT him.

He does wear those kinds of clothes and hes had all sorts of facial hair over the years. You obviously don't no the first thing about the man if you cant recognise a picture of him. That is 100% a picture of Richie Sambora you tit!! | I agree, I have over 600 pics of him, that IS Richie Sambora. No doubt. Check on Youtube aswell, there's a video of him in Dublin like that with the rest of Bon Jovi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.108.128.248 (talk) 16:54, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And another thing you tit. If you click on the photo to enlarge it you can even see that he is wearing the superman chain around his neck that the members of bon jovi have. TIT!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.108.128.248 (talk) 16:59, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can go home[edit]

Please quote the source for the novel as the inspiration. I was under the impression it was a reference to Bon Jovis 2005 hit 'Who Says You Can't Go Home' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.15.142 (talk) 20:10, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

POV?[edit]

"Richie received many positive reviews as a rock guitarist, and with that Richie has been named as one of the best rock guitarists still alive, Richie is a big difference between other guitarists alive, her voice is incomparable." idk, this seems POV, especially the last part. - Tim, 12 January, 2011 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.68.57.211 (talk) 16:00, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2000-present original research[edit]

This section, and probably all the instrument and equipments sections, has no citations. I suspect a lot of it is original research. That being said, I appreciate the information so it would be great if anyone has any reasonable sources to back it up. I can only try to find internet sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Italienmoose (talkcontribs) 21:20, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The whole section is very detailed and should possibly be edited down. Obviously some of the equipment and instruments need to be mentioned, but it now has an air of the promotional. Karst (talk) 11:05, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ranked in Rolling Stone list?![edit]

The citation links to a ranking for Joe Perry not Richie Sambora, and I can't find Richie in that ranking anywhere.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.16.123.24 (talk) 19:29, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Bon Jovi proposal[edit]

Instruments used[edit]

No space to mention he's spent most of his career since 1988 using Fender guitars, spent the whole of the 90s and the early part of the 2000s as an officially-endorsed Fender artist, and has his own Fender signature Stratocaster for a decade and a half, eh? 82.10.117.175 (talk) 17:39, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is built on WP:SECONDARY sources. If you find a reliable source describing his endorsements and guitars, then feel free to summarize the source for our readers. Binksternet (talk) 19:08, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So why haven't you deleted the 2000s section? Is that not entirely unsourced? If you are going to strut around at least be consistent about it. Also, my edit was clearly not "disruptive" as you claim in your rudely worded message to me (separate from the above comment) and if you had any integrity you would withdraw that false accusation. My edit was worded and structured in keeping with the rest of the article. Oh, and I nearly missed it. The 80s section is also completely unsourced. Are you going to delete the entire section immediately? 82.10.117.175 (talk) 23:16, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than deleting anything further, I looked up some secondary sources that talk about Sambora's guitars and I summarized them for the reader. That's how it's done. Binksternet (talk) 02:05, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"That's how it is done"? So what you are saying is that your original accusation that I was disruptively editing the page was false and was not supported by Wikipedia's own rules which you throw about despite not understanding them, that your original deletion of my contribution was wrong, and that your failure to apply the "unsourced" rule to other content within the same section of the article was out of order, and that in order to not look like a biased and inconsistent editor you had to completely rewrite the whole section to reincorporate my contribution that you had summarily deleted in contravention of the rules - though just not in the format that I used (even though I used a format consistent with the existing text - how mature...)?
Do better. I suggest that in future you read the rule book before you throw it at users, learn to treat other users with more respect, accept that others know more than you about a subject (as demonstrated) and spend less time working on your vanity page to tell us how prolific an editor you are and more time contributing to the "improvement of articles or the building the encyclopedia". If you had acted appropriately in the first place you would have saved us both some time. That will be all. 82.10.117.175 (talk) 10:38, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Early life[edit]

It seems this section makes a lot of claims with not much backing them up. They should either be cited or deleted, to keep with wiki standards. Lindsey40186 (talk) 02:07, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with Orianthi[edit]

This- https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/orianthi_speaks_on_current_relationship_with_bon_jovis_richie_sambora_after_breakup.html - seems like it would be a good source to cite for their relationship- per the infobox- from 2014-18. It currently lacks a source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.205.133 (talk) 04:10, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Cardillo[edit]

I knew him when he was 18 years old.loved his voice and his friendship. I was only 15 but will never forget him. I just saw his obituary and it broke my heart. He died so young. I always wondered what happened to him. I'm so glad he made music his life. I saw you visited his family after he passed. And I'm glad to see he was happy with someone he loves. I loved him but he only loved me as a friend. We met when he was with the Royals. He played at the Hearth where I met him. Tell me he was happy. That's all I ever wanted for him.
