1. There is no such thing as Polish mythology. Poland was born at the moment the age of mythology ended, the phenomenon was most surely a part of Slavic mythology.
2. The name is definitely not Western Slavic, not to mention Polish. It's most likely some barbarised Russian term.
3. This article should really be revised by someone who has some info on the topic
