Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bobpitch

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bobpitch isn't an advert, it's a real offshoot message board from Popbitch, originally setup after a falling out between a poster called 'GoldCD' and an editor of PB. It is an extremely rumbunctious, vicious - though still cuddly - place, that thrives on insults, recipes and pictures of kittens. Since the website is survives entirely on voluntary donations from those who actually use it, the idea that it is Spam is ridiculous. The poor thing runs on wind and elastic bands.

Bobpitch was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was DELETE

Looks like an ad. About 100 hits for 'bobpitch' in Google. Rhobite 15:33, Jul 20, 2004 (UTC)

Somebody needs to look at the related Popbitch as well, in addition to the links that may or may not be sprouting off it. Delete Bobpitch for sure. [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 15:35, 2004 Jul 20 (UTC)
I think Popbitch is safe with 18,000 google hits and ranked 68,056 by Alexa. Rhobite 15:48, Jul 20, 2004 (UTC)
OK, but much of the same irrelevant material is being posted there. I'd like the stuff there verified (i.e. frequented by music industry insiders). [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 15:52, 2004 Jul 20 (UTC)
  • if only we knew what they are talking about. Delete. Ianb 15:40, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Don't worry it's a quite fun message board, we don't make money, and matt really is unfunny... -AndyV
  • It's a sad little joke: Don't VfD these, just mark them for speedy delete. I've removed most of the article because of its offensive and stupid nature. - DavidWBrooks 15:46, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, if not speedy (as it's vanity spam) - David Gerard 15:57, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete (speedy for nonsense, spam, and using the most offensive profanity in English repeatedly?) for ad. Back in my day, we used "Bob" as a reference for an anonymous fool. Pitching the bobs would be fine. Geogre 16:35, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • I have read about BobPitch in the UK magazine "Word". It is indeed peopled by music industry insiders, among other professions. The article (July 2003, was an analysis of PopBitch and the various boards that have sprung up in its wake). It's actually a rather interesting phenomenon. As for it being commercial spam, that's a simply ludicrous accusation. Take a look at the site. How on earth does *that* make money. However, I would agree that, in its current state, particular with the added profanity, the article doesn't give a real insight into quite how important BobPitch is in British youth culture today.
  • Damn. Two sockpuppets. Speedy delete if possible. This is just wrong. - Lucky 6.9 16:52, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
