Does anyone here remember anything resembling a storyline to this? I was never really able to figure it out... -Litefantastic 01:51, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I could add a storyline for the tokusatsu series, but it might be confusing, because it would contradict some of what is written in the article: The character descriptions refer to the anime series. Also, the article is rather long as it is. Would it make sense to split up the article into two articles, separating the anime series from the tokusatsu series? The character descriptions, for the most part, describe them from all versions, not just the anime. I also described the bases behind the Android names (ie. "Kikaider" = "kikai" + "rider"). Applies to all versions.

Some elements are true for all series. On the other hand, details such as Ichiro becoming more mature and deciding to help Kikaida is only true for the anime series but is mixed with details that are true for both series. ManoaChild 03:17, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Incidentally, the anime follows the manga quite well, but it still has some differences (most especially evident in the 4-part OVA, Kikaider 01: The Animation, the story of which was VERY truncated - Examples; In the manga version, Hakaider was a good guy for a while and the Armageddon Lord, IIRC, required 2 children to power it as opposed to 1).

I have the entire manga version, but I've only seen certain parts of it so far. What I saw was pretty cool!

BTW, I, too, am a very big fan of the tokusatsu Kikaider. Became aware of it since early 1991 and first saw it 10 years ago. :) - Ryuuseipro

As for multiple articles on the different series, that shouldn't be a problem. We could use this page as a base for them. I can probably start on that right now. - Ryuuseipro

Jiminy Cricket?[edit]

I doubt the Gemini circuit was named after Jiminy. More likely it's a reference to Gemini, as in the the double nature of Kikaider's personality. I'm not sure if it was a joke or not, but I'm removing the comment anyway. -Wilfredo Martinez 22:37, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orginal Manga?[edit]

how can you get a copy of the orginal manga by Shotaro Ishinomori? because I've read the 2005 version and that manga doesn't even finish itself. (even though it says its complete, it also says to be continue in the final volume) I didn't care for it and would like to read the orginal does aanybody know where I can get it? Romanization Issues[edit]

Okay, the Japanese way of writing this is キカイダー, no? So... why is it romanized "Kikaider" instead of the better romanization "Kikaida"? I used to watch this all the time as a little kid, and I even have one of the DVDs of the original 1970s TV program released by JN Productions, and it's romanized "Kikaida". The subtitles on the screen used to say "Kikaida", and even the huge Generation Kikaida event we had had "Kikaida". Not once did I see "Kikaider" until I started looking at the internet. I have since changed most of the words to Kikaida, because I believe it's better. What do you think? Comments? – Obento Musubi (C • G • S) 07:17, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One more vote for Kikaida from a kid who grew up in Hawaii in the 70's. I had the dolls and the posters from the original era, went to the Live Show and never saw Kikaider written on anything till coming here. Same here, I used to watch Kikaida on KWHY Channel 22 (local PBS station for LA's Little Tokyo area) every Sunday at 6PM circa 1976. It was listed then as Kikaida, the official DVD was released as Kikaida and to me it will always be Kikaida. This is such a tiresome issue that always pops up on pages for Kikaida, Brave Raideen (not REIdeen, you fools) etc. Somehow the wrong side always seems to win the debate and they get their way.Druff (talk) 21:45, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As far as the anime, the English sound track and subtitles use Kikaider, and the DVDs and DVD cases have Kikaider printed on them. It was broadcast on the Cartoon Network as Kikaider. The most recent and most used romanization is Kikaider. The "correct" romanization is beside the point; if it actually mattered, then we should also debate changing the "Astro Boy" articles to use "Atom" which is the "correct" romanization. Merging List of Kikaider Characters with this article[edit]

I recommend merging the list of characters with the main article. Centralizing all the information would be helpful.
