Best dressed man in Canada[edit]

I just wanted to add that Central happens to be the school with the BEST DRESSED MAN IN CANADA!! GO MR PIZZUTI!!!!! --- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.95.131.31 (talk) 02:30, 31 May 2008 (UTC) Can anybody offer a source tying Victor Garber to Central? I know his cousin went there, but I've never heard that he was a Central student.[reply]

Check it out. [1]--Ekrub-ntyh 20:46, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shadrach Kabango[edit]

Who in the world is Shadrach Kabango?! Hardly notable... only 114 hits on Google...

High schools[edit]

Any londoners here interested in making more high school sites?

I created the list of schools but I am mostly opposed to making high school articles in general. I'm not even sure we can keep this one, but at least it is relatively notable within London itself...I woudln't suggest making any more articles like this, though. Adam Bishop 01:02, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

why are you opposed to making high school articles? take it down if you think thats the right think to do. :) Liberty_lp

Nice to see a public school page that is listing more than just a line or two about where and who the currenr Principal is. If this page comes up on VfD, consider my vote a keepWeaponofmassinstruction 04:29, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I noticed someone messeing around on the site...and want to change some of the assertions...but I'm not sure what some of the changes actually are..."the lowest test scores"? Unless things have changed since I went to Central .... I remember that the grades were pretty good.

Miss Universe 2005[edit]

Where is the proof that Miss Universe 2005 went to Central? I'm 23 (her age) and she wasn't at Central when I was there!

Maybe someone has confused her with Karen Baldwin? She was from London, at least. Adam Bishop 20:18, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Karen Baldwin is definately a Central grad. As far as I can tell Miss Universe 2005 is from Toronto, not London.

The proof is teachers who taught her, and a yearbook.

Ok, What teachers? And what yearbook? What yearbook is she in from Central? Between my brothers and me I have access to every Central yearbook from the late 80's to 2001...I don't know this person...and I should if what is written is true.

I went to Central and remember Natalie; used to see her walking to/from school sometimes. I think she was only there her OAC year, which was 1999-2000.

She's in the classmates.com database, though there's no proof it's the same Natalie. But seriously, how many Natalie Glebovas are there gonna be running around southern Ontario at any given time? -Let me put it this way. I can GURANTEE you she didn't go to Central. I went to Central, we are the same age, friends of mine didn't go with her. I was laughed at for even asking. Also consider this, if she did go to Central, the London Free Press would be claiming that she is a Londoner. Reminding everyone of her roots to the city, however short lived. Luke MacFarlane on the other hand, I remember him as the lead in the school show, now's he's in Hollywood.

She's in the 2000 yearbook. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Glebova.gif

Okay, I'll eat crow on that...but it still has me miffed as to how I don't remember her. It doesn't make sense though one feature of London, is that the Free Press is certain to find any remote trace of someones roots to the city.

I believe the problem is that the LFP normally catches onto a story weeks (sometimes months) after it happens. I'm sure that eventually they will catch onto the fact that Ms. Glebova was in some remote way connected with London, but until then they'll continue doing what they do best - maintaining the lowest possible standard of mediocrity Phertis 02:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Student Parliament[edit]

I think it is an overstatement to say that central is known for its canadian style on student parliament. First most people won't know this, not even kids that attend the school. Other high schools in the area made the same change to a Canadian style student Parliament in the same school year thus this is a pointless and misleading statement and should be removed.

Agreed. In many ways it isn't actually a true Canadian style of government. We just changed the name of the various positions (President = Prime Minister, Treasurer = Minister of Finance, Grade Reps = Grade Ministers, etc.) Phertis 02:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I'm removing it. --Ekrub-ntyh 20:47, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to Charles Bronson United Way video[edit]

In talking with some of my classmates today about this strange reference, I'm removing that line because I fail to see its a) relevance or b) its accuracy. If someone can provide me with evidence refuting both of these points, I'd be glad to talk! Ekrub-ntyh 23:19, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-It's too bad that the Bronson video is now longer being shown. It used to be played every year dating back to at least the 1980's (when my older siblings were at LCSS and at the very least, as late as 2001. It was a sort of hallmark of the United Way campaign at Central. So much so that one year (1998 I beleive) they didn't have the correct video so the student council showed a clip from one of his movies instead. The statement in the article was accurate, as for it's relevance...that's debatable.

Yeah if they're not showing it anymore then it's not relevant. Doctofunk 20:52, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-I disagree and think that reference should be included, it was definitely showing while I was there 94-99 and made for a truely unique school tradition. I think to leave that out is to sanitize the article at the expense of telling what distinguishes this school from others. Obviously this isn't as serious as discovering insulin but it is a notable addition nonetheless.

Gym Floor[edit]

Could someone please clean up the paragraph about the gym floor? The phrases are confuseing and I don't know the details to edit it properly. - 20:15

-Is the gym floor/Vlach reference relevant to the article? It seems to me as if every high school has students who die tragically/well before their time, and their contributions are special to the people that knew them (or where in the 4/5 year life cyle that is high school life) but its not part of the schools greater folklore. For example, I believe that Shaun Lodge's basketball number was retired, is that worth mentioning in the article? (Edited by 198.103.184.76)

  • I would believe so. The old tile floor (underneath the wood) is covered with love messages and memories to Vlach. Koolgiy 17:10, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

John Kapelos[edit]

Actor John Kapelos is also a Central alumnus. Kiddster2112 (talk) 00:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
