Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CurlChat

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ordinarily, user pages should be left alone, but User:CurlChat is a blatant advertisment by the wonderful people who brought us User:Tmxxine. -- Cyrius| 17:27, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete: I remember the deletion of this the first time, when it was in main space. No one could figure out what the #@$# it was. I still can't, except that it is, indeed, an ad. I don't know who would buy it, but that's a separate issue. This is a weaker delete vote, for me, because it violates the no-advertising rule, but it does so by being an external link. I vote delete because the intent is obviously to sell stuff, but, technically, we should be slow with this. Some legitimate external links will be to informative sites that also sell things. • Neutral, but I do think it is an attempt to misuse the User: namespace to "fake" a real Wikipedia article. — David Remahl 18:19, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Doesn't further any Wikipedia aim but raises their Google status and is just too blatent. Agree that one shouldn't delete everything that could be advertisting. Jallan 20:25, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. No activity since June 4, seems only advertising. RickK 21:01, Aug 22, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. No contributions by user except this. Advertising. Kevyn 21:39, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. WikiSpam, commercial google bombing. Delete Image:CurlChat ScreenSnap.png while you're at it; not a copyvio according to the description, but only exists to promote this product. Gwalla | Talk 21:43, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. I don't like Advertising on a user page, unless there is a good reason (And I can't find one here)--Plato 00:05, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Abuse of userspace. SWAdair | Talk 02:12, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. In general, we should be very reluctant to delete anything on a user's page, but 1) "CurlChat" isn't really a user, it's a software application (or something) and 2) it's a blatant ad. -- orthogonal 06:40, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. User page being used as an advert. Andris 08:01, Aug 23, 2004 (UTC)
