This man was on trial for terrorism, he was not convicted. Because the case is brought to a higher court, he stays a suspect. In the Netherlands it is normal to not list the last name untill the suspect is convicted. That is the reason I moved the pagetitle.--Jeroenvrp 12:46, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Even on the Dutch Wikipedia, this is a subject of heated discussion. Why go with a convention from Dutch news media on an English encyclopedia? - Andre Engels 15:04, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Samir is known as Samir A in the Netherlands. He's still not convicted, so I removed the page to Samir A again. I think that even wikipedia has to follow the rules.
Well you actually only moved the talk page. We do not have to go by Dutch convention and I think it's much better to go by the full name. violet/riga (t) 15:32, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it to be moved. violet/riga (t) 15:32, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Even besides the question if this article should exist on a Wikipedia (does every suspected terrorist need to be described?), I think the ethical convention of the Dutch media should be the main course to follow for Dutch criminal suspects on every Wikipedia... Puck 18:21, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Why? Why should the Dutch media have any say in what goes outside of Holland?David Cannon 01:43, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
It's seen as a protection of the privacy of suspects. The Dutch media believes that mentioning the full name of suspects may hurt them or their families after their release when they are innocent. I personally think it is a bit silly since the rise of the Internet, because every foreign media mentions the full name of suspects.
